Some get food stamps, but the ones who probably need the food stamps more than those who get them, are using WIC vouchers. And all they get is milk, juice, eggs, cereal, cheese, and occasionally beans. And yes, they swipe those foos stamo cards, but have to be careful pressing the buttons with their HUGE neon fake nails. I'm not knocking the idea of food stamps - just the regulations on those who get them (sometimes).

One more rant...

They use those food stamp cards on junk food! Chips, frozen pizzas, microwave meals, chocolate, candy, full sugar sodas, etc.. There are RARELY, and I mean RARELY, any fresh meats or vegetables or fruits. There are sometimes BUNCHES of ground beef, and usually have a bunch of boxes of Hamburger Helper. I rang an order the other day... it was an entire cart full and I think she had 2 APPLES and the rest was what I mentioned before! This is a very common occurance though, its not like I am griping over one or two people.

WIC is usually used when you are prego so the woman can get at least get fiber and some of the other things a developing baby needs. Then when the girl has the baby, it's to get expensive ass formula and baby food. You can be on WIC and be middle classish.

Food stamps can be used on ANYTHING except beer.

^^ You can't use foodstamps for beer, tobacco, household cleaning suplies, makeup, medicines... (I can't think of whether or not you can get cat and dog food... probably not, but I haven't even see that at all this semester! )

You're right about the WIC, and they can still get it as the kid gets older and they start drinking whole milk and juices and then cereals. With milk as expensive as it is, thats what most poeple want it for. They won't even get all 36 oz. of cereal they are allowed to get sometimes.

When I was a cashier in high school there was a woman who came in one day with a few kids and paid for her order with foodstamps/wic/whatever the hell the gov. gave her. After the transaction she said, oh I also need cigarettes, and paid for them in cash. It pissed me off. If you can't afford to feed your children, you have no business spending money on any luxury.
