Hypothetically if my buddy is taking a cruise on a ship that is registered to a country that does not prohibit certain drugs; can this be used to excuse a positive drug test used for a future job?Technically while in international waters he would be breaking no laws. If this can be proven via paperwork is he still accountable?[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 2:51 PM. Reason : a]

lollegalezeI don't know if the "legal aspects" is what really bothers future employers one way of the other
5/13/2008 2:45:20 PM
hahahaha........ an employer doesn't really care about the legality of it. They do not want to employ someone who uses drugs, no matter where they might've used them.
yeah, he can use it as an excuse. And the potential employer can still deny him a job.

yes he would still be accountable on a drug test

the point isn't that he broke the law by doing drugs. The point of the drug test is to ensure that he's not a drug user...

If the 'hypothetical buddy' cares about this future job, either don't smoke or get some xxtra clean (link). Your employer won't give a shit whether or not you were breaking the law; they're trying to screen out what they believe would be an underachiever in the workforce. follow the linkhttp://www.mysupplementshop.com/fcocl.htmlSince I'm here and it's somewhat related, anyone know how strict cruise ships are about bringing liquor onto the boat. I'm going at the end of the month, and I wasn't sure if I could get away with picking up a 'souvenir' bottle of tequila in Cozumel or even just bringing a handle of Crown in my luggage. I'd just like to avoid paying at least $5 a pop for drinks the entire time I'm on this boat if possible (without spending all my time in the casino )

^generally when you buy liquor from island stores they actually deliver it to the ship for you. because they do search your bags and you do walk through a metal detector (although thats unrelated to bottles). Ladies purses, back packs etc pass through x-ray machines.

Returning from Mexico we were allowed one bottle of liquor per person crossing the border. Boarding the ship you could prolly get through with a few bottles unless they x-ray your luggage.

It may make for a radical hairdo for a job interview, but if you bleach your hair you can solve that. I guess he / you could bleach and then dye it back to a normal color to not look like a complete weirdo. Is this a government job or something?[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 3:45 PM. heres a simple way to get around the xray at the boat entrance. Buy two/three bottles, have them scan your bag, the indian security guy will telll you to take it over to another table and turn in your alcohol. Fortunately, I've never seen them tell the alcohol table how many bottles you have, so just turn in one. Profit.Or, get a BIG waterbottle or sprite bottle and fill it with a clear drink before you get onboard. Hell, just put whatever you want in there, they never checked my luggage.beats paying 6-12 for drinks.

^they've got that covered too. I saw 3 college guys get busted for putting clear liquor in water bottles. Since they saw the seals were broken they opened them to check for the scent of liquor.

^ not to get back on the boat, but when you get onboard orignially.just don't ever try to put your vodka in a mouthwash bottle, no matter how clean you think it is, it will still taste like ass.
5/13/2008 4:27:57 PM
if you take your time you can open lots of bottles without breaking the seal

i debated sneaking in alcohol when i went on a cruise last year, but i ended up not doing it.for those of you who have...did you just tote around a bottle of liqour with you all the time? the only time i was in my room was when i was sleeping...i had no desire to sit around there and drink. other then that, i was off doing things on the boat. more then once i thought how annoying it would have been to have to carry around alcohol.i was on a royal carribean, and i actually found the prices to be pretty reasonable. all the liquor drinks i had where $5. not bad at all....top shelf was usually just a dollar more[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 4:34 PM. ^ x 6 I like this idea of turning in 1 bottle and keeping the other^^^ You mean try to take the cap off with out separating it from the 'safety ring'?[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 4:34 PM. Reason : too slow : x]

to be more clear, I mean, when you board the boat from the original port. I haven't had my luggage searched or know anyone who did.
5/13/2008 4:52:58 PM
I think it is pretty easy sneaking on liquor on your initial embarkment. I just remember paying ridiculous prices like $5/beer the last cruise i went on.

beer usually is expensive, but liquor usually aint so bad.

Rookies.I fill up dark colored bottles like robitussin, tylenol, etc with liquor and then just spike my drinks the whole trip. There's still plenty of times where I order beers or drinks because its convenient but it reduces my overall purchases by ~20 drinks which is a nice $100 savings. Plus its nice to pregame in the room while you're getting ready for dinner.A lot of cruises offer the "all you can drink" sodas for ~$30 so you just go back to the room dump liquor in the cup before you fill it with soda.[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 7:17 PM.
