I enjoy going on picnics, walks in the state parks, rent a boat at the lake, weekend trips to the coast or mountains, frankies fun park, etc. but I'm old.

How about a walk around Lake Johnson? I've also gone to the observation deck on a nice cool night at RDU and looked at the stars as planes land. Really nice there, and often "quiet".

No, you don't need a ticket to get in. I don't know the "hour of operation" for the obs. deck. A friend took me out there to one of them (supposedly there's more than one?). We chilled there from like 10pm-1:30am. No gaurds or anything, and we were right behind general aviation. Something to look into. I remember taking Glennwood Ave. to International Dr. Basically you keep going down and there will be signs you can follow to get to it.

Ice skating is fun. Also depends if there is a big crowd, alot of kids, etc. I prefer the Garner Icehouse.
