$0. Employer pays for gas. Trust me though, it's not worth it.
5/21/2008 10:27:31 PM
hmmm.Assuming I drive to work, then home for lunch, then back, for 4 days out of the week (drive the work truck on avg once a week) then it's somewhere around $400 per year at $3.80/gal.I drive a truck with shitty gas milage, but I only live 1.5 mi away.
5/21/2008 11:18:26 PM
If you count the fact that I drive home for lunch every day with $4.00 gas getting 25 mpg:Monthly: $300.08Annual: $3600.96If you count just going to work the first time and leaving at the end of the day with $4.00 gas getting 25 mpg:Monthly: $150.04Annual: $1800.48Man, it makes buying this place 100% worth it.[Edited on May 21, 2008 at 11:35 PM. i drive for my work, if i had to pay for gas, it'd be around ~$325/week, ~$1300/month, ~$15,600/year
5/21/2008 11:40:14 PM
I ride a scooter to work and class$6 a month, $72 a year
5/21/2008 11:41:26 PM
During my co-op rotation I averaged $440/mo. in gasoline. It was no big deal though, it was less than apartment costs and I was bringing in a good sum of money. Wouldn't mind something like an XR650L for a commuting vehicle, even a street legal XR400 would be nice. I could convert my TT-225-R to something street legal I would believe, it has mounts for everything, and electric start. The main problem is that I don't really want to have insurance and tags and have to pay for parts (switches, lights, tires, helmet for on-road, riding clothes). Basically, I'm lazy and/or apathetic.

Using my car to get to work:$494.07/month$5928.84/year(thats a lot for only a 17 mile round trip per work day)Thats a real bitch b/c before my company moved and made taking the subway a real bitch all I spent was $80/month on an unlimited subway card. Thanks a lot jackasses. But now with gas prices going up so high and my car falling apart I might resort back to public transit, even it if means doubling my commute (to an hour) and taking 2 subways and one bus[Edited on May 22, 2008 at 12:41 AM. 28 miles roundtripMonthly: 322.94Annually: 3875.28I wanna buy a motorcycle. I would cycle to work but its just not practical as there are no friendly bike lanes. Not sure if the caluclator is accurate. Try inputing a high number in the MPG, like 120 or 999. [Edited on May 22, 2008 at 11:21 AM. Reason : ]

Your MONTHLY commuting cost is: $ 59.49 Your ANNUAL commuting cost is: $ 713.88if it really got to it, i could walk to my downtown office from my house (~0.75 mi), and hop the shuttle to my main office 4 miles away.but for that price, it's hardly worth it
5/22/2008 11:32:37 AM
That depreciation/repair/insurance thing is too high for my 95 Camry. If you have a POS drop the cost per mile to .10 or .20 to get a more realistic number.

They need boxs for a few more things.Monthly car insurance and yearly property tax are some quick ones. Tire cost and interval between changing would also be nice.-Quinn[Edited on May 22, 2008 at 12:53 PM. Reason : laptop haxed]

I'm not so sure about item #6 on that form. The standard number (0.522) sets my monthly cost at $568. If I set it to 0 the cost drops to $130. That 0.522 includes things like insurance, financing costs, depreciation, etc. But it gives no real indication on the impact each factor has. So if I wasn't paying insurance what would it be? I'd still need to pay insurance even if I was driving 10 miles a month. Plus my car is paid off so how does that factor in?Either way I work too far away to ride a bike, the buses don't run on convenient schedules, and there is no fucking way I am moving to Durham to be closer to my job.
5/22/2008 1:08:11 PM
if i do my car maintenance myself it goes from 250 a month to 54... i like that number better[Edited on May 22, 2008 at 1:21 PM. Reason : .]
