considering signing up for the US Army again. if you could get a signing bonus of say, $33K bucks would you do it again?i'm debating. 3 years is nothing . . . and the Iraq War is basically won according to Bush and McCain.

$33K bucks
5/29/2008 12:11:26 PM
you really need to start keeping your stories/lives straight. it sure seems like you like to flip flop between quite a few of them
5/29/2008 12:11:50 PM
Iraq? is there a war over there or something?
5/29/2008 12:13:11 PM
5/29/2008 12:14:05 PM
^ dude, this is me trying to escape. i'm really considering the $33K bucks or how ever much the signing bonuses are now and just re-enlisting. i got out as an E4. sh!t should be gravy to do another 2-3 years. i did 4 last time. it wasn't so bad. granted, the war had just started and i was getting out before we realised it wasn't going to be easy.
5/29/2008 12:14:38 PM
or perhaps a 4 year low of violence is indication that Iraq is stabilizing.According to Obama, it's still hellfire and rape rooms over there.[Edited on May 29, 2008 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]
5/29/2008 12:14:42 PM
what is um the iraq?
5/29/2008 12:14:46 PM

5/29/2008 12:16:50 PM
nah. no trolling here. it'd be great if some vets posted. i would have made this in Soap Box, but those gay liberals only like talking about bullsh!t conspiracy stories.
5/29/2008 12:21:56 PM
at one point in time didnt you have a job that made 6 figures?? If so you wouldnt need 33k on the spot
5/29/2008 12:25:22 PM
whats wrong with getting $33K . . . and serving your country.
5/29/2008 12:26:54 PM
nothing at allyou should do it, B

one day everyone will learn that the best way to get him to leave is to stop posting in his threads/hypocrit
5/29/2008 12:34:59 PM
why are you guys such asses. the key word is "considering". ^
5/29/2008 12:36:38 PM
the key words are "stories so outlandish and moodswings so severe that not even TWW can believe you"

I too am a liberal vet, and no on so many levels[Edited on May 29, 2008 at 1:09 PM. Reason : .]
5/29/2008 1:08:56 PM
^ please, bro. i served my country proudly and would do it again. i'm a Veteran. regardless if i have a few wild streaks. i'm still a Vet.
5/29/2008 1:10:04 PM
you live in a strange world.
5/29/2008 1:16:15 PM
^ the world is strange, brohab.
5/29/2008 2:06:06 PM
depending how long ago you served you could ask to be redacted.
5/29/2008 2:40:33 PM
i served 4. what's redacted?
5/29/2008 4:03:10 PM
what the hell is a K buck?
5/29/2008 4:04:29 PM
K = 1000. similar to how a Kilo is a 1,000 grams. it's easy to remember.
5/29/2008 4:05:18 PM
so is that Army Base 10?
5/29/2008 4:05:54 PM
5/29/2008 4:07:22 PM
5/29/2008 4:08:29 PM
I would serve my country for no less than $1,000,000. The opportunity costs of me joining the war far outweigh the benefits, personally and socially. /pretentionMy brother is enlisting as a Marine next Tuesday. If something bad happens to him, I will become the military's biggest threat.Anyway, I say go for it, Amsterdam. What will you do with the $33K dollar bucks?
5/29/2008 4:09:31 PM
i'd pay off all debts. do the enlistment come out debt free and i think i'd still be able to demand a similar salary if not more when I get out? its just something i thought about . . . but then there's the possibility of combat, which wouldn't make it worth it. but i could do 2 years for $33K bucks.
5/29/2008 4:17:53 PM
Have you graduated? If not, how many hours have you completed? Not to peel a scab (and I could be thinking of someone else), but I seem to remember you having some legal and/or drug problems. Are you sure those are behind you for good?
5/29/2008 4:31:05 PM
pretty much. spoke with my lawyer and he said because it was my first offense and in life i've accomplished military, college, career i'd have probabtion and a sealed file. he said i'd have to do classes. he's delayed it a second time. i did preliminary and that went smooth.and no. i need like 9 hours to finish my BA. i'd like to take care of my legal stuff and address alot of debt i have.
5/29/2008 4:34:11 PM
For 9 hours shy, I wouldn't be surprised if the Army has an officer program for which you might be eligible. They seem to have enlisted to officer programs that the other services don't.
5/29/2008 4:38:27 PM
but the problem is an officer committment is generally longer. like 6 years. being in the military till 2014 is sort of lame.
5/29/2008 4:40:26 PM
There not going to like that felony drug charge when you go to enlist
5/29/2008 5:25:57 PM
it won't be felonious, B. my lawyer says he'll be able to get it sealed or at least down to a misdemeanor.
5/29/2008 5:38:38 PM
I say do it. Obama will have you out of there in 6 months once he gets elected.
5/29/2008 5:39:42 PM
hahaha, if he wins, i have a feeling obama is gonna shit his pants when he gets the briefings from the pentagon and realizes he cant just back out of the room. not that i know anything specific, i just feel like there are lots of secrets he doesnt know yet. and 6 months is laughablewe'll see, i guess
5/29/2008 5:44:37 PM
racist
5/29/2008 5:52:25 PM
no.
5/29/2008 6:19:55 PM
5/29/2008 6:20:24 PM
id go back in if the price was right and WW3 had broken out and my country truly needed me. assuming they wouldnt fuck me on the medical bullshit again
5/29/2008 6:23:50 PM
i didn't get any bonus the first time, and I'd definitely do it again.Of course, I'd do it again if I got a bonus, too!
5/29/2008 6:54:20 PM
^ same here. serving wasn't so bad, but its like you're isolated from the real world when you serve. i think its cause most of the other soldiers have never really experienced life (college, cars, divas, etc). so you're amongst the riff raff of America, but at the same time its a humbling experience.i would do it again if the opportunity seemed beneficial to me.
