Does the Farmers Market have them yet? Anyone know?

The Farmers Market always has them, but they aren't the same this time of year.

The best ones will always come from "green" peanuts that are pulled fresh from the ground around August. They dry out pretty quickly and after they dry they will not be anywhere near as good.

If you use the dry ones that are available right now you have to boil them for a very long time (like 5 hours) just to make them decent, but they'll never be as soft as the green ones will be.

You can boil green peanuts and then put them in the freezer, but I don't know of any vendors at the Farmers Market that do this. All the ones I have asked say they are using the dry ones this time of year.

The stuff that is available right now is better than nothing if you need a fix though.

My girlfriend doesn't like them cold, but she loves the hot nuts.

Some family of mine owned a huge peanut farm and I grew up eating them. I <3 them cold or hot.

I wonder if my grandfather planted peanuts this year...he normally does and he normally boils half the amount he pulls up. Sometimes my dad will buy a bag and boil them. I love boiled peanuts.

I have never actually tried these, I'm going to have to find the nearest boiled peanuttery soon.

I live in the mountains, it shouldn't be hard, I see them all over the place.
