that's pretty crazy
6/4/2008 11:05:21 AM
man i haven't run that since the first week it came out
6/4/2008 11:07:24 AM
$250 <<<<< wastage of resources
6/4/2008 11:09:02 AM
hmm, my power bills have been cheaper recently. And while I have been keeping the windows open more often, February was cold and the PS3 was folding away.So I don't think the PS3's power consumption is all that noticeable.
6/4/2008 11:09:19 AM
$20/month can be noticeable depending on your power bill.
6/4/2008 11:10:14 AM
well, it's UP to $250/year, so that's what, $20/month, worst-case scenario?
6/4/2008 11:10:42 AM
not only does it look like a George Foreman, but it cooks like one too!At least it doesn't have the failure record of the 360. Apparently Sony understands how to handle heat dissipation.
6/4/2008 11:12:19 AM
^^thats what I was saying...my last power bill was $70 between 2 people. If I had my PS3 running at $20 month that would be noticeable.[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 11:12 AM. Reason : ^]

mine is $38.95 for two people with the PS3 running 24/7.That must mean the two of us only use $18.95 worth of electricity
6/4/2008 11:16:12 AM
hmm...if we opened our windows more and didn't run our A/C 24/7 I bet we could see power bills that low.
6/4/2008 11:17:12 AM
im so glad i have unlimited ip addresses and power at tech for all my computers
6/4/2008 11:20:09 AM
January was $82.96February: 46.91March: 43.16April: 41.99Last year was awful (and was before the PS3).$426.01 for four months.
6/4/2008 11:21:40 AM
I could purchase green credits for the kWh rate they used for their dollar estimate.
6/4/2008 11:21:48 AM
man...if mine comes in at $100 each month, i'll be happy (then again, it's 1700 square feet and it's just the gf and i splitting utilities )
6/4/2008 11:24:39 AM
a fridge is on 24h/daymy PS3 is on just at most a few hours a day
6/4/2008 11:33:19 AM
I'm not sure how big my place is; it's a three bedroom, two story townhouse. My g/f and I split everything.
6/4/2008 11:34:31 AM
^^^thats crazy. Our bill is usually in the $60-70 range and my house is 1950sq ft.do you have one 1 ton A/C unit or do you have two 1 ton A/C units?[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 11:35 AM. Reason : .]
6/4/2008 11:34:43 AM
hehe its funny, everytime we turned on the ps3 it sucked all the wireless out of the room for just a moment so anyone who was on a comp or laptop got kicked off the internet
6/4/2008 11:36:18 AM
^^ 1 one-ton...but i also run more than a few computers, which might contribute to heating (and so cooling is necessary) and the actual amount of electricity they use*shrug*...we'll see
6/4/2008 11:45:36 AM
^I also have one 1-ton. I generally leave it at 72 or off. But I do have 1 computer now (sold my PC) and now I just run an iMac 24/7.
6/4/2008 11:48:49 AM
I guess people with it need to set up a bike/tread mill hooked to a generator while they play. Save some energy and burn some cals!
6/4/2008 11:50:11 AM
^^ at 72°F...during the summer? i keep mine at 76°F (i don't like the heat, but i love cool/cold weather) during the summer and run the ceiling fans on low in all the frequented rooms (not in the guest bedroom or the office)i just bought the place, though, so for all i know it might be pretty low...i called up progress and asked what the historic prices were, and they said it ranged from $80-120, with the average of about $100 month
