i put alot of stress on my shins and legs in general when i run. make fun of me even though none of you do anything athletic besides jacking it.

What you need to do is ask A Flock of Seagulls.
6/14/2008 7:05:51 PM
6/14/2008 7:06:21 PM
do you run on your tip-toes?
6/14/2008 7:07:17 PM
^the balls of my feet.but, late in my run, i realize that i'm just stomping more than i am striding.[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 7:08 PM. Reason : ]

6/14/2008 7:09:53 PM
^^ i heard you run while jacking it.^ that could have something to do with it.[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 7:10 PM. Reason : ]
6/14/2008 7:10:03 PM
dude, i'm a professional athlete.
6/14/2008 7:10:57 PM
seriously go to a running shoe store and have them play with your feet and figure out what sort of shoe you need... i used to do the same but i've been running with the same newbalance model for 4 years now and i go 3 to 8 miles every week day
6/14/2008 7:12:01 PM
yea i know my flat footed boogie is the main reason for the problem, but that shouldn't mean i can't run.i've gotten inserts and good shoes, but now i think i need to work on my form.^sounds like a good idea, where do you recommend?[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 7:12 PM. Reason : ]
6/14/2008 7:12:10 PM
what foo1 said is good advice. anywhere that knows their info about shoes and running can put you in the right shoe for your foot. having a shoe that fits you perfectly is a great start.[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 7:14 PM. Reason : ]

6/14/2008 7:15:17 PM
what are some good foot/shoe knowledgeable stores?
6/14/2008 7:16:24 PM
the New Balance joint at Southpoint.that athletic shoe joint in Crossroads.
6/14/2008 7:17:43 PM
running only increases your body's caloric demand, it's counterproductive [/truth]
6/14/2008 7:18:31 PM
i'll be back in town July 1, i'll hit up them joints then..... there's nothing like that out here in the bums where i'm at right now.
6/14/2008 7:18:41 PM
there's some place called fleet feet sports in raleigh, nc that is apparently great for making custom shoes.i've never been, but JCASHFAN says its good stuff
6/14/2008 7:20:39 PM
i'm in charlotte so i go to a store in dillworth... i can't think of anything in raleighbut once you find the right shoe
6/14/2008 7:30:34 PM
seriously, dude. get the right pair of shoes before you try to "work on your form." Especially if you realize you are hurting your legs. Working on your form in a bad pair of shoes is like trying to find the right line on a race track while driving a pinto. Don't fuck around with your legs, man. You might not realize this, but you need your legs for walking.

I second the dont run idea, i had shin splints real bad from running in shitty shoes, kept running and got stress fractures up and down both shins.....if you are into real pain, keep running
6/14/2008 8:04:16 PM
why'd i have to forget my running shoes before i left i have a good pair at home so i don't want to spend good monies for a new pair. i've been lifting weights pretty regular, but even after i workout, i just feel like running and running.... well i've rana good 3-5 miles every couple days for the past 2 weeks, but today i felt alot of pain early in my run, so i'm going to have to stop if i don't want terrible shin splints again.what else can i try to give me the same intensity of running, without actually running? I used to be a swimmer and i'd like to do that, i could go and swim in the apartment pool in the mornings on weekends. cycling is new to me. i don't have a bike, but i can use the bike at the gym i guess.
6/14/2008 8:09:50 PM
highly suggest swimming and biking until shins dont hurt, then go back to running assuming proper foot wear, and if you sit around long enough the urge to exercise will go away
6/14/2008 8:22:18 PM
best running shoes ever.http://www.amazon.com/Saucony-Mens-Progrid-Triumph-Running/dp/B000OSJZ4U/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2you'll thank me later....after you've bought these
6/14/2008 8:23:17 PM
^they look nice, but how are they for people with flat feet?
6/14/2008 8:24:24 PM
190% TOE LIFTS
6/14/2008 8:25:12 PM
^lol
6/14/2008 8:25:23 PM
i dont have flat feetbut I run a lot, and unlike the majority of tww im athletic. you can always buy those insoles for flat feet people.... or you can read the reviews and see if some flat foot person liked it.[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 8:26 PM. Reason : x]

6/14/2008 8:28:59 PM
^ make sure you dont run through your shin splints. If they keep occuring i'd walk instead of run. Right now im side benched by a pretty big hair line fracture in my shin.[Edited on June 14, 2008 at 8:43 PM. Reason : x]
6/14/2008 8:30:57 PM
you are flat footed, meaning, you cant really run....such is life. flat footed = slow ass runner
6/14/2008 8:34:23 PM
yea i first got shin splints playing lacrosse in HS... i was kinduv important on the team so i got inserts and played through them.i was taking PE107 fall semester and i tried running through them again, but that's when i got the hairline.i wish i had black people shins
6/14/2008 8:34:42 PM
i got that big archbut i still suck at running..and get shin splints bad
6/14/2008 8:35:55 PM
6/14/2008 8:42:59 PM
i read somewhere that blacks have lighter shin bones or somethin of the sort, and they can swing their legs faster.in retrospect, maybe it was written by jesse helms....
6/14/2008 8:49:33 PM
