i randomly have intense smells of familiar scents, and it's always random as shit, and has absolutely nothing to do with what is currently around me

for instance, i'm sitting here at work a few minutes ago, doing things, and *BAM* pancakes

now i like smelling pancakes, but it's just an intense sensation for like 15 seconds then nothing

most of the time my sense of smell sucks, and i think i smell at a capacity ~30% the normal person

and sometimes i see splotches of random colors at the top of my field of vision

like randomly there's green or something

I have a problem with the corner of my eyes

I did some eye exercises in high school to improve my field of vision for sports

It worked...I can see full detail out of the corner of my eye instead of just shapes and patterns like I used to

But every so often I think I see someone that isn't there...I'll turn and my head and theres nothing, when I could've sworn I saw somebody 2 seconds ago

Its only really a problem when I'm driving, or when I'm smoking as I tend to get paranoid more easily

either that or you could be developing seizures. often times people will smell certain scents strongly before the onset of a seizure.

call your doctor and tell him to prescribe you topamax and call it a day.

a change in diet or environmental stress could easily be the cause. But if it becomes bothersome of course see a doctor.
Either way it's almost certainly nothing to worry about

i smell random things sometimes too...not necessarily food though. like last week i all of a sudden smelled those little plastic pieces of food i had in a pretend kitchen thing when i was a kid. weird.

oh i also have synethesia (the colors & numbers and spatial arrangement of sequences parts) so i dunno if that has anything to do w/ it. there are some ppl w/ it who associate a color with a smell or a number with a smell, etc.
