I dunno, what is up with that?

6/19/2008 3:48:06 PM
Seriously, what is the deal?
6/19/2008 3:48:08 PM
no, it's not harmful and it doesn't cause arthritis
6/19/2008 3:48:43 PM
so is being able to pop bones a sign of health or something?[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 3:49 PM. Reason : dkflks]
6/19/2008 3:49:24 PM
i pop all my bones, some do some dont.
6/19/2008 3:51:03 PM
if you're popping bones then you're breaking them. most people just pop joints (releasing air from the joint or moving a tendon/ligament quickly over something else).it's not a sign of anything. it just...is.[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 3:51 PM. Reason : ]

^^well that's what the doctors say, but by all means let's go with what your common sense says^

my friend back home said his grandpa popped his knuckles all the time and his grandpa has really bad arthritis now...grandpa says its a scientific fact that he has arthritis because of this]
6/19/2008 3:57:11 PM
good thing we're going on scientific fact rather than feelings!

NUCKLES!

i pop the following every morning (and some during the day):neck, knuckles, ankles, knees(really deep pops), back, neck, and my right elbow.
6/19/2008 4:16:26 PM
lol oki'm still gonna go with what doctors say over what you say

I don't really pop anything much. I used to pop my back a bunch, but it's been a long time since i've done it. I once popped my tailbone by flexing my ass. Either that, or I self corrected a previous break/shift of the tailbone.
6/19/2008 4:37:23 PM
i never said that you said popping joints causes arthritis i understand that you believe it could cause damage. that's great. i've been told/heard from multiple other [reliable] sources that it doesn't. that's what i believe. ok?
6/19/2008 4:37:26 PM
in that study, is that a correlation or cause. Doctors sometimes have a problem seperating the two
6/19/2008 4:39:12 PM
oh, i'm betting it's correlation...the problem with the theory (one way or the other) is that to satisfactorily "prove" one way or the other, you'd need a lifetime of data, and since that doesn't exist right now, you can't really prove either theoryse7entythree claims that not only does it not cause arthritis, but that it causes NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVERmy point is that common sense (of course, common sense is subjective) should tell us that any repeated action will probably have a degradatory effect of some kind (and that if something has degraded, at some point it is possible that the object will not function like it was originally designed to, making it, albeit subjectively, harmful)...she says she doesn't "believe" in something that is essentially constant across the boardgranted, anyone could get stupid about it and say that opening your eyes will wear out your eyelids or something like that...but habitually cracking your knuckles is not the same thing as cracking them once in a while, so unless you believe that knuckles were designed to pop on a regular basis with applied force (as opposed to it just naturally happening through use of the fingers), then "cracking" your knuckles introduces the POSSIBILITY of a harmful result[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 4:50 PM. 6/19/2008 4:44:23 PM
there you go.common sense, beliefs, etc are all subjective. i can choose to believe who/what i want to and you can continue to blow up about this if you want to. you gonna stop blinking?

no, i wear a helmet to avoid that specific problem.thanks for helping me pass the time til 5!

^^ not a problem...thanks for assuring me that there are people who still aren't capable of thinking on their own!
