Why I have a couple boxes of checks:
- I couldn't order a book of just 10 or 15
- Wanted, for peace of mind, to have a paper trail for rent earlier this year
- It's easier to have checks on hand than look up/remember SECU's routing number, for direct deposit purposes , and last week, a dept at NCSU wouldn't let me just fill out the paperwork with the info - they insisted on a preprinted deposit slip, or voided check


If I didn't deal so much in cash, I'd be adding 'paying friends cash for shit', 'fraternity stuff', and 'gifts' to the list.
