Gastonia has a ton of bandwagon redneck Tar Heel fans there. I know b/c my brother lives near Crowders Mountain and when I go up there to visit him we sometimes go out to places around Gastonia. I see some of the weirdest and most fucked up looking rednecks there.

saps and Aficionado are about spot on with their assessments of the people there. It's a shame my brother who grew up as a city boy is living out there now (mainly due to his wife's need to live near her parents in King's Mountain). My 4 year old niece is starting to speak with a really heavy country accent b/c she's picking it up from all the kids at pre-school.

Well where they live is technically Gastonia, but it's out in the country away from most of Gastonia. They don't have to deal with too many idiots from Gastonia right now. I know he would probably like to come back to Charlotte. I know I'd be a lot happier if he did b/c then it wouldn't take me around 50 minutes to drive from the Northeast side of Charlotte all the way to his place. The only reason why I think he wouldn't move back to Charlotte is b/c of the higher taxes. I think they want to move soon. They live right down the street from one of the best elementary schools in the area, but they want to make sure their kids end up going to the best middle and high schools in the area as well. They will need to move to get their kids into those schools though. Plus I think they'll eventually want a bigger home.
