it seems that without 8+ hours of sleep I cannot function properly throughout the day. at times i can sleep 10-11 hours a day...consecutively. During highschool I slept on average around 6 hours a night. During my first two years here at state i was averaging 3-5 hours a night... while still being able to function properly. Now I cant sleep less than 6 hours... sleeping through alarm clocks or turning them off and not even realizing it because im too sleepy.

You are not in high school anymore. You are getting old.

get that alarm clock that rolls off the table and you have to chase it around.

You need less sleep as you get older but the consequences of not getting enough become much more severe.

^^ no i don't.

Actually I've heard something similar to that, so maybe he isn't so far off base...Anyhow, I had this happen to me after I had mono... it took me literally 3 years to feel normal again with my sleeping habits.I can function on 6 hours a sleep now pretty easily and I have LOOOOONG days 3-4 days a week... Just have to get your body back on a schedule.

less sleep ? The whole theory behind sleep debt is that if you accumulate too many hours you pass a thresh hold in which your body will not function properly until the debt is reducedyou may be able to function on less sleep gradually if you have been sleeping regularly for years....which would make your sleep debt significantly less than mine. I heard from this one place that you can stay up for six days straight and only need to sleep for 20 hours on the 7th to get back to a normal state and you will feel fine.
7/15/2008 1:07:18 AM
6 days? i can't stay up more than 2 without help. but your body will probably adjust to whatever you want it to do, you might feel crappier but it'll probably be alright for a while.

If you stay up for six days you will be fucking useless.
