LIBERALS

I just want to get in a big ass truck and mow these critical mass fuckers down.If people want to ride bikes to save gas i could care less. The whole "biker-pride" deal though is about as gay as going to legends and finding a dude to play butt darts with.[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 3:49 PM. Reason : l]

Aww it's so cute when automobile drivers think they have some kind of divine exclusivity to the roadways. ^^^^ Let's hope for your sake that you are being sarcastic.[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 4:39 PM. Reason : .]

this story isn't about thinking you have a divine exclusive right to roadways. It's about a group of bikers who surrounded a guy's car and then were surprised when he ran their asses over to get the fuck out of there. Then they beat the shit out of his car and attacked him...so yeah, excuse me if I'm not sympathetic to their cause. This is the first time I've ever heard of them, and it's certainly not a good first impression.

this thread inspired me to go out and buy a bicycle
7/27/2008 4:58:56 PM
^^ It's good that you were able to get both sides of the story from the soundbite. Oh wait. . .
7/27/2008 5:33:45 PM
I'm sure he did something to piss them off, but what were they thinking would happen if they surrounded his car to intimidate him?
7/27/2008 5:39:21 PM
^^ We heard what the eye witnesses said, and regardless of what he did it makes them (the cyclists) look like complete jackasses....I'm all for sharing the road and whatnot, but this is over the line, sorry
7/27/2008 5:41:33 PM
I am neither apologizing for nor condoning their actions. I am merely stating the the wholesale notion that only cars and trucks should have a right to the road or even more right than other users is rather repulsive.
7/27/2008 5:46:02 PM
It's not about having a right to the road, it's about NOT having a right to act like jackasses, break traffic laws, provoke people, and then act like they're the victims when they end up getting hit on their bikes

I don't mind cyclists on the road but I do mind when they don't obey the rules of the road. Because you are on a bicycle doesn't mean you are exempt from the rules.

not quite the bike gang I'd imagined

lol, OMG EVERYONE RUN OR RIDE AWAY, CRITICAL MASS COMES OUR WAY!!!there are a small number of idiots in a large group that can make the whole group look like a bunch of idiots. Can't form a census of the group just by a few individuals. I wouldn't mind biking to and from work, if I lived closer and was in a more metropolitan area that was biker friendly. I used to bike to and from High School every day, which was about 2 miles each way, mainly because I hated the bus.
7/27/2008 9:58:10 PM
I did think that story sounded a little one sided. I'm sure the driver of the car did something to cause the bikers to surround him and harass him. What the bikers did wasn't right however. However, I feel with the growing number of people out there that are pick to ride their bike instead of drive everyone should be aware that they should share the road with bikes. But I do think that last comment that woman made was a little over the top. "OMG I'm afraid that the bikers are going to get me too! I can't drive my car anymore!!!"I'm sure they will just ignore her if she doesn't bring attention to herself by yelling out an insult that she thinks is funny, or reving her engine-just to joke-, or something else similar to what the driver of that car probably did.
7/27/2008 10:06:34 PM
yeah, I laughed at that. They are guys in tights on bikes... you are in a 2 ton car. You have more chances of being attached by the boogie man in your bed than bikers with allen wrenches...I do think they get annoying when they bunch up 2, 3 or even 4 bikes wide on public roads, specially during high traffic times. They need to stay right as possible and either stay single line, maybe 2 wide max.[Edited on July 27, 2008 at 10:12 PM. Reason : ]

^You're right. The right to the road does go both ways. I respect that people commute on their bikes and ride their bikes for fun. I feel that people driving cars should respect the fact that they do reserve the right to be on the road. However bikers need to also remember that cars are much bigger than them and travel much faster. They should make it as easy for drivers to go around them as possible. It's no more safer for drivers having to slam on their brakes because a biker is in the middle of the lane and they can't be passed.
