8/1/2008 11:41:44 AM
Can i buy my macbook online and get tax free? I'm trying to avoid the apple store like the plague
8/1/2008 11:59:03 AM
The only thing I'd consider venturing to a retail establishment on tax-free weekend for is a computer. It's just not worth putting up with the billion crazy people to save $15.
8/1/2008 12:03:03 PM
diampers & formula are also tax free...BJ's here i come
8/1/2008 12:03:13 PM
I bought a tennis raquet and $489 dollars of text books. That was also with a $10 coupon to the campus book store.
8/2/2008 11:37:54 PM
Yeah, textbooks are a ripoff at the NCSU bookstore. Same with any brick and mortar store, really. I'm going to scope out what books I can buy online and limit my bookstore purchases to the course packs and other stuff you can't get anywhere else. $150 for a damn textbook. That shit is highway robbery.
8/2/2008 11:49:43 PM
i'm buyin joie some sunglasses
8/2/2008 11:51:20 PM
$15 is a lot of money
8/2/2008 11:52:57 PM
^My books weren't all that over priced I just had a lot of them. HI 406 has 21 required books, but that adds up to a lot even when most of them are less than $20. Then HI 404 has 3 and HI 467 has 4. That is a lot of reading. I already started tonight and e-mail one instruct asking where I should start.
8/2/2008 11:53:43 PM
^^ they more than $15 if you're talking to me
8/2/2008 11:54:43 PM
^^ Yeah they aren't all over priced. When I worked there though it was more or less a known fact that the textbook department was what brought in a huge portion of the store's money, annually, and that they had ridiculous margins and charged people out the ass because they've got the location and, of course, they are the official campus bookstore. Online sales and other local bookstores are cutting into their business and forcing them to reduce prices, so it's not all bad news. While I don't want to see the bookstore run into the ground, I don't like unscrupulous business practices either.[Edited on August 2, 2008 at 11:56 PM. Reason : penis]
