they must be doing one hell of a businesseverytime i drove by there, (which was almost daily), there were people out front with popsicles
7/30/2008 7:32:52 PM
when I lived in raleigh I would drive over to their store in durham on a weekly basis. It used to be the only one.
7/30/2008 7:51:11 PM
goddamniti can't believe a store selling popsicles could be so profitable..........its the simplest idea
7/30/2008 8:45:12 PM
but what will happen to locopops come cooler seasons?
7/30/2008 8:49:01 PM
^^ be careful w/ that mindset, the cereal restaurant failed.
7/30/2008 8:58:04 PM
It's not too badNot so great, but definitely not bad. I Was kind of pissed because I wanted to take my bf, and it was ~1230 on a hotass july day...and they were closed. wtf are they thinking, closing during the hottest part of the day, in the hottest month?
7/30/2008 9:00:48 PM
I've been a few times. It's pretty good. Water-based ftw
7/30/2008 9:28:04 PM

7/30/2008 10:40:16 PM

7/30/2008 11:32:16 PM
anyone know how late they are open?
7/30/2008 11:40:39 PM
I tried this with the hubby and it was pretty cool. He got a mexican chocolate pop, which I didn't think would be good, but I really liked it. It had cinnamon and nutmeg, which reminded me of my family's Christmas treats. I had one of the fruity ones, which was good as well. Each pop is $2, cash only, so that kinda sucks b/c I never have cash on me. Otherwise def. something fun to try.

Red, Hot and Blue is where Darryl's used to be. Locopops is on the left side of Red, Hot and Blue when standing on Hboro street, where the old jewelery store used to be

7/31/2008 2:44:54 PM
^ perhaps...hillsborough st is more often the death knell for a business than its saviorthat said, if you haven't tried it, you should...they have some seriously odd and yet very interesting flavors, and of the dozen i've tried, i've only been "meh" about one of them
7/31/2008 3:24:08 PM
yeah, they're pretty delicious...and like others have said they already have successful stores in Durham and Chapel Hill so it's not like it's an unproved business plan
7/31/2008 3:30:33 PM
^ How was Bowlz different?
7/31/2008 3:31:13 PM
locopops aren't available for cheaper in grocery stores and most are original flavors that I haven't seen other places.
7/31/2008 3:32:41 PM
What type of interesting flavors are there other than the Mexican chocolate one that was already mentioned?
7/31/2008 3:34:07 PM
when i lived on hillcrest rd, i walked past that location every day going to classi'm sure i would have stopped there a lot, that was a bitch of a walk at the time
7/31/2008 3:34:39 PM

7/31/2008 5:41:40 PM
the gf and i love that placemexican chocolate is fantasticalso lemon thyme or whatevermojito is good, anise hyssop almond was gooduhonly bad one i've had was the lavender cream oneat about 1/4 of it and then held that one under the hot water faucet until i saw it no more
7/31/2008 6:09:43 PM
The Almond Amaretto was incredible. Alas it was a temporary flavor.
7/31/2008 6:11:05 PM
I've tried to go there twice recently. First time it was closed and deserted, despite it being 1:05 and the door listing noon as the opening time. Second, it was bustling, but I realized I had no cash. It's good though. I've been to the one in Hillsborough, and was quite pleased with the pop (had Orange Apricot). $2 isn't bad either. I hope it sticks around, though I agree it's not the best location in the world.
