so i'm laying in bed trying to fall asleep and i'm like "man, sure would be nice to drink a few beers at work"...but obviously this is very uncouth in the workplace...couldnt just put them in the fridge...anyone do this and have some tips?

yeahbut it's A&W root-style
8/4/2008 12:08:43 AM
drinking is a generally accepted practice at my job. maybe not on the job but they definitely pay for it
8/4/2008 12:08:45 AM
get a flask
8/4/2008 12:08:51 AM
no. my boss purchases beer for us to drink at work (occasionally) but we have to go in the back and chug. no beers in front of the customers we always say
8/4/2008 12:09:01 AM
We have wine in our break room fridge at work (and a nice HD flat screen)...I've found that it's generally more accepted to get a drink or two at lunch meetings out in restaurants here in CA... I never even heard of that in NC, though I'm sure it happens..
8/4/2008 12:10:48 AM
i wish i could find a place to hide them in the fridge or put them in the freezer for just my lunch break but i think someone would see...i would want no more than 3 while at work and no less than 2....thought about maybe buying a 40 on my lunch breaks but i'd rather just buy a case and bring 3 at a time
8/4/2008 12:14:18 AM
When I'm out at a lunch meeting I'll order a beer or two. Last time I was out with co-workers on the dime of another company I sure did. But all my co-workers were too pussy to, for some reason they thought they'd get in trouble? ghey
8/4/2008 12:15:15 AM
if you open a few beers and pour it into a nonclear water jug, and put the cap on tight, will it go flat if you keep it cool in the fridge? thats the best idea i have right now
8/4/2008 12:18:25 AM
the only time i've had a beer at lunch was when i was out with some clients in mexico city and it's somewhat standard down therewhen i still worked in an office for the same company i'm with now - every once in a while we'd have gatherings onsite that had free beer but i think most people still only had a beer or two - mainly because most of them had to drive home - back a few years ago it was more often - nowadays it's all but gone
8/4/2008 12:19:14 AM
Haha, yes I did. But it had nothing to do with that. And if somehow in some way it did then I still don't care b/c I hated working for that company.
8/4/2008 12:20:41 AM
btw this isnt just lunch exclusive...personally i'd like to drink a beer from like 10:30-11, 12:30-1, and like 3:30-4
8/4/2008 12:21:55 AM
drinking at work is a terrible idea in general - even if it seems everybody else is
8/4/2008 12:23:26 AM
hmmm...what about a 40oz into a 2 liter bottle(not clear bottle)...would that go bad by the end of the day or would it stay ok for a 5-6 hour period?
8/4/2008 12:25:18 AM
we drink at work sometimes. something about being in that environment while drinking makes me feel drunk after only a few for some reasonwas pretty drunk for the Arcade Fire midnight release.. too bad like 5 people showed up
8/4/2008 12:26:15 AM
dnl you're fucking retardedyou're going to screw up a job you dont even get paid for by drinking in the office?lolzbe sure to make a thread when you get caught
8/4/2008 12:26:32 AM
No one w/ a brain is seriously going to drink beers casually in the office... he's obviously just saying this for a reaction...But at lunch meetings and the such in my company, we do... it's not like we get sloppy or even buzzed. Just have a beer or glass of wine and take care of business.I wouldn't do it unless it was OK'd...[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 12:27 AM. Reason : talking about corporate or career jobs]

laff^^]
8/4/2008 12:27:14 AM
yea i wouldn't do it in an office environment. but this summer i'm working retail and when my store owner buys and drinks and tells me to go grab a beer, i do what i'm told.
8/4/2008 12:27:41 AM
so far the only idea i'm going with is buying a 40oz on my lunch breaks
8/4/2008 12:29:00 AM
despite spending the entire day hungover, this thread's making me want to drink. and there isn't a drop of alcohol in this apt
8/4/2008 12:40:39 AM
If the work I did would allow it, I would drink at work MADMEN style.[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 12:41 AM. Reason : I suck]
8/4/2008 12:40:41 AM
we crack open beers on a friday, or at the end of a projector on lunches where it's someone's last dayor on team lunchesthe owner of the company always offers me a beer or wine whenever I swing by his place to help him do computer stuffhe's got this baller-ass all glass liquor cabinet in his office at work stocked with baller-ass alcoholso you know, it's whatevs[Edited on August 4, 2008 at 1:49 AM. Reason : also, generally open bar at any company event]
8/4/2008 1:48:37 AM
what about doing 8 minute abs at work? i think it would help wake me up and be more productive
8/5/2008 9:54:15 AM
uhi'm in salesof course we drink for work..
8/5/2008 9:55:35 AM
drinking on the lunch break is necessary from time to time, but I keep it to one or two beers. If I cross that threshold, I'll just wanna keep boozin'Plus more than a couple and and I feel tired / groggy after about an hour.If I could drink beers at my desk from like 4:30 on, they might be able to squeeze an extra hour of work out me though.
8/5/2008 10:00:16 AM
at my previous job my boss would send me to the store at around 3:30 on friday's to get beer.
8/5/2008 10:01:48 AM
When I used to work at a football/cricket/pub, we would gamble to see who had to go pour beers for the others at 4ish.
8/5/2008 10:03:19 AM
our fridge always has beer in it.i'm not ballsy enough to drink one, but the two bosses will have a beer most days around 5:30.]
8/5/2008 10:07:06 AM
a lot of the lawyers around here have beer at lunch or in there office fridge, i at times would love you drink one at lunch, cause i take a late lunch like 1 or 1:30pm but im too afraid to
