8/5/2008 11:18:21 PM
8/5/2008 11:18:26 PM
no. He wanted to be "friends" since we were good friends so long before the long ass relationshipbut now we don't even talk, only twice all summer. So who knows...who cares really. His loss
8/5/2008 11:19:51 PM
I'm friendly with a lot of my ex's but there's just something that you can't come back from after you break up. I mean...there's usually something about the other person that you can't stand that would put you in that position in the first place. Once you realize what that is it's pretty much a done deal.
8/5/2008 11:19:55 PM
it's possible, happened to me in one relationship (it was very "we both know this isn't going to work out into a romantic thing, etc")but it's unlikely if one of you was particularly hurt
8/5/2008 11:20:40 PM
No. We did well by keeping in touch a lot and got along fine, but as soon as he and I discussed my being read to date again (yes, this is how things were between me and my ex), and I took him up on it, he got all clingy on me.
8/5/2008 11:21:59 PM
hahahahaha!NO
8/5/2008 11:23:09 PM
who would ever want a friend ?
8/5/2008 11:23:28 PM
I just fucking hate all the drama
8/5/2008 11:24:50 PM
why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends.yea drama sucks. not worth it really.
8/5/2008 11:25:21 PM
nopeonce body fluids are exchanged, its pretty much all or nothing after that
8/5/2008 11:25:50 PM
friends with benefits.
8/5/2008 11:28:09 PM
the show "Friends" is a lie. No, never works. If either party try's to push it, a restraining order comes into play, usually against the guys.
8/5/2008 11:29:22 PM
yes but its rough at first, but it is possible. but some people arn't worth the time to become friends with even after you spent time in a relationship with them.
8/5/2008 11:30:17 PM
plenty of other skanks that deserve your time.
8/5/2008 11:31:11 PM

8/5/2008 11:32:03 PM

8/5/2008 11:32:27 PM
all I've got are awkward moments
8/5/2008 11:32:42 PM
All signs point to no.
8/5/2008 11:33:28 PM
i like to make awkward situations worse sometimesjust so i can tell my friends about it later and have a good laughi need to go to the twwers anonymous thread...

One of my ex's just got engaged and I really enjoy thinking about telling the dude she's gonna marry that I fucked her in the butt.
8/5/2008 11:35:21 PM
^wait til the wedding and cash in
8/5/2008 11:36:10 PM
butsecks?
8/5/2008 11:37:02 PM
i think if someone wants to be friends after a bad break up, it is purely for selfish reasons
8/5/2008 11:37:37 PM
am I the only one who is going to say yes?
8/5/2008 11:37:44 PM
8/5/2008 11:37:46 PM
8/5/2008 11:37:50 PM
out of all the chicks i've dated, i'm prob friendly with half, and don't really keep in touch with the other half (no bad blood, we'd be friendly if we ran into each other...it's just that we don't run into each other)
8/5/2008 11:59:44 PM
It has never worked for me, although my ex took away the last thing that was keeping me sane at the time, improv comedy. Fuck you!
8/6/2008 12:00:40 AM
8/6/2008 12:03:12 AM
To this day, I only have one 'ex' I don't speak to on a very regular basis... we're all friends. I'm not the norm, and I understand that. But that's just me. They were great enough to date and be a part of my life... the friendships never left just because we didn't have a g/f or b/f title.
8/6/2008 12:08:27 AM
^i'm the exact opposite. If they're great enough to be my gf, then I'm wasting my time being "just a friend."by the same token, if I'm great enough to be her bf, then I refuse to "settle" for friendship.
8/6/2008 12:13:00 AM
i never really broke up with my last gf, she just moved to boston a few months ago before school starts. fuck being friends and dating at the same time its way too confusing when one of them drop out.
8/6/2008 12:14:56 AM
i've had it work out well with several of my ex'sbut i've also tried it and had horrible results with others- it just depends on the relationship
8/6/2008 12:16:44 AM
yes, with time and maturity
8/6/2008 2:01:24 AM
8/6/2008 2:03:34 AM

8/6/2008 2:05:57 AM
I'm really close friends with one of my exes still.
8/6/2008 2:10:49 AM
if a relationship is serious enough you end up being best friends in some capacityno reason to scrap that -- the only reason you ever would is because of negative attachment or ownership issues, or unless the person does something that you would drop a friend for doing, i guess

8/6/2008 2:34:02 AM
even in the case of bad breakups there's a lot both parties can learn from itit takes a lot of effort to maintain some sort of friendship through a bad breakup but it's possibleone of my exes who i had a complete meltdown with and i are still pretty good friends and we get a beer whenever i'm in raleigh[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 2:38 AM. 8/6/2008 2:38:21 AM
^i agree. I have an ex with whom we had a very ugly breakup...but a couple years later, we get a long great as friends. Relationships and friendships have different requirements. Just because one didnt work doesnt mean the other wont.[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 2:41 AM. Reason : ]

I hate the idea of not being friends with people I've dated. It requires a lot of trust on my part to even consider dating somebody- and unless it is all entirely lost for some reason, I see no point in letting a friendship go when I've already put a certain amount of effort in. I have some ex's that I trust more than many of my friends (that may speak more about my friends though). Then again, sometimes the ex just refuses to consider being friends. That's happened to me - and it can hurt worse than the actually break up imo.
