seems like it would be easy since there are so many boats and you can just hop in and leave on the open waters then store it somehwere. and you dont have police coming behind you on a boat randomly running plates. how does getting boat plates work anyway? its seems like boats are loosly regulated than cars so if you hot wired and had a boat you could say its your boat and nobodys gonna get fishy cuz lol its a boat. I'm thinking about going in at night hopping in and taking a boat and going across to store it somewhere far then figuring out how to make it mine later.

you might try electroplating if its one of those aluminum bottom boats...depends on what you're trying to put on the surface though.

Those letters and numbers on the side of all of them are boat-people decorations

this is miami they dont run anything down here they are way more concearned about illegal drugs and people on the water than randomly runnning tags on a recreation boat

really? didnt think so in the days of gps and amber alerts. I just don't know any chop shops for cars i could do my own boatwork and don't have a garage right now but know of many boatsheds i could happily use.
8/6/2008 3:44:23 PM
does lowjack work for boats?
8/6/2008 3:47:41 PM
i got the amber alert system on my car but honestly i'd rather powder coat it
8/6/2008 3:48:55 PM
i guess yall arent on boats much or have one with all the legal papers and shit
8/6/2008 3:49:51 PM
typical liberal. always wanting to steal from people who actually EARNED what they have. it makes perfect sense
8/6/2008 3:49:54 PM
why would you wanna steel a boat when you could gold it? or platinum it?

8/6/2008 3:53:30 PM
most of the boats here people dont even live here and you could probably steal a boat in april and take it back in novemeber and nobody would ever notice it. same goes for living in a house except alarm systems ftl

boats definitely have VIN and registrations that need to be updated annually, just like cars. and yes, the coast guard/police do pull you over randomly to check for proper onboard equipment and for current registration...all that, pretty much the same as with cars[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 3:57 PM. Reason : wow]
8/6/2008 3:55:52 PM
I've even seen them at boat ramps waiting on you to pull your boat out to check your stuff. I've been boared several times by the coasties just because I was driving by. They are esp bad around holidays.
8/6/2008 4:01:11 PM
not here
8/6/2008 4:06:35 PM
sounds like you already have a boat since you know so much about the waters out there, why the fuck do you need another one?
8/6/2008 4:07:15 PM
i was just hypothetically thinking about flipping one
8/6/2008 4:16:35 PM
Why don't you give it a try and report back to us?
8/6/2008 4:22:18 PM
On the water they can pull over boats for "safety checks" at any lake. I don't think they even need probable cause other than that. You have to have the boat registration on you.
8/6/2008 4:23:14 PM
stealing it and selling it would be worse yet. Have you ever bought/sold a boat? Do you have any idea what you have to do to sell a boat?
8/6/2008 4:30:25 PM
Oh, and be sure to steal the trailer too, because that's an entirely separate felony with it's own tags and registration.
8/6/2008 4:31:53 PM
^^you can just sell it on craigslist im not talking used car dealer or anything and i wouldnt ever take this boat out of water so no trailer would be necessary
8/6/2008 4:33:59 PM
I mean you can steal the boat but where are you gonna go on a lake.
