I rarely if ever get sick, so this whole medicine thing is new to me. Doc put me on amoxicillin. After taking the first caplet, three hours later I had about 20 mesquito-bite looking bumps (small) on my back. They vanished an hour later.Google yields varying answers, ranging from "go to the ER" to "that's totally normal". Anyone ever been on amoxicillin? I'm going back to the doc tomorrow regardless.

why the fuck is it that no one can spell the word "mosquito"

Allergic reaction

Sorry. Mosquito. My bad.

i get hives when taking that shitim allergic to amoxicillin pennicillin (sp) and seclour

I would beware because this sounds like an allergic reaction. If you are allergic to the antibiotics, your reaction could worsen to it the more that you are exposed to it.

Some things I read are that hives <> allergic reaction. Rather, widespread red rash = allergic.Ah well. See what the doc says.

Don't worry. The worst that would happen would be that your throat would swell shut.

I am allergic to amoxicillin but I don't remember what happened when I took it as a child.^ yeah, I think my mom freaked out and took me to the hospital.. it was worse than hives or a rash[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 9:39 PM. Reason : .]

I'm allergic to most antibiotics (evan, pls note ). My reactions to all of them have been on the second/third day and an all-over red rash, fever, and body aches. Once, I was having mild issues with some tetracycline and the doctor said that I obviously needed a higher dose, nobody is allergic to tetracycline . Pretty fucking miserable that time.

I am allergic to penicillin, and I also broke out in hives when I had it (I was 10). That is what is happening. You should be able to take tetracycline or azithromycin (Zithromax) instead of amoxicillin (penicillin derivative, just in case you're sick and a moron).

They switched me to doxycyline.

yeah, my little brother is allergic to the 'cillins
8/12/2008 10:46:54 AM
i'm also allergic to the 'cillins. I get the same type rash if I take amoxicillin, but worse and all over If you aren't allergic, you could have mono. Apparently if you have mono and take amoxicillin, you get a similar rash. [Edited on August 12, 2008 at 11:03 AM. Reason : mono]

def sounds like a reaction... just call the nurse up there and they'll talk to the doctor and call you in something else.lots of people have cillin allergies. you gotta make sure you let them know, since they almost always prescribe amox or penVK.... cause they really hate letting anything "stronger" go unless they have to, cause of the whole antibiotic tolerance scare

same here, i hardly ever take any drugs ( tyenol/asprin maybe 4 times a year, if that) and was prescibed amoxicillin back in school. i developed a rash and was taken off it it shortly after.

I, too, am allergic to the 'cillins.
