Don't forget all of the innovations that Nintendo pioneered or made popular that is commonplace in most console games now. Off the top of my head:1. Directional pad. (Nintendo actually has a patent on the familiar cross shape I believe)2. Traditional movement of character with left thumb while performing actions with right thumb3. Analog and digital on the same controller4. First system since I think maybe an old Atari console to have four controllers that could attach without needing a multitap5. L and R shoulder buttons6. Although not really used anymore since hard drives are common place, but memory cards in controllers (although Dreamcast had these too... did Dreamcast come out before the N64?)7. Vibrating controller (it could be argued that PC did this with force feedback joysticks but the N64 was the first console to do it)8. Use of motion for controlling the game rather than just button pushing (I think one of the Warioware games actually did this on the GBA a few years before the Wii was announced)
