I am here to you that shit is no joke. Cyclosporiasis. Caused by the cyclospora parasite. One week solid with bloating, ridiculous quantities of the most vile flatus, and horrible cramps. And the cherry on top: explosively shitting nothing more than putrid dirty water every 20 or 30 minutes.

I also got lucky enough to score the bonus symptom: hurling violently every hour or so to the point of dry heaves. No fever though, thank any deities with any involvement whatsoever.

Ah, but there’s more fun. Things got mostly better for about a week and a half, and then the shitwater/barf bug struck again. This time I was lucky enough to get over it in a couple of days.

I eat a lot of fresh fruit. Like every day. So we buy a lot. Mostly strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and cherries. Apples every now and then.

My bad habit that I have just gotten over has been grabbing and eating a couple cherries or grapes or whatever directly out of the bag on my way home from the grocery store.

The chances are probably overwhelmingly high that some farm worker with dookey hands happened to pick the fruit that I ended up eating.
