facebook looks at what sites you've been going to and gives you related advertisements.

i get a lot of hunting and fishing ads on facebook.

ambrosia has been looking at food-stashing sites (mormons, conspiracy theorists, etc.). these people are also interested in shelters.

she got an ad for this site on facebook.

Myspace works the same way. It picks up on words on your page. I have the words NC State and Soccer all over my page, so there are constant adds for replica jerseys and other things involving soccer and NC State.
