from my current job, even though it's not in effect until July 22nd...Here is a thread for you to tell me how dumb I am for leaving a perfect good (and well paying) job to move back to Raleigh and try and look for a different job that is actually in my field...
5/12/2009 2:56:06 PM
thats awesome what were you doing and can you put in a good word for me?
5/12/2009 2:57:24 PM
the only mistake you made is moving to Raleigh instead of Charlottebut I guess in Charlotte you couldn't have your daily quota of TKE buttsexso you really didn't have a choiceSalutations and welcome home[Edited on May 12, 2009 at 2:58 PM. Reason : x]

I was doing quasi-accounting work for a consulting firm... but I am really more interested in the finance side. My goal is to eventually become a corporate controller at this point, but it takes luck and a lot of hard work.[Edited on May 12, 2009 at 2:59 PM. Reason : x]

5/12/2009 3:04:10 PM
you don't have anything lined up in raleigh yet?
5/12/2009 3:14:45 PM
I left California to move to Raleigh. Twice. I won't be moving back to Raleigh ever again.
5/12/2009 3:15:56 PM
I'm quitting my job too Effective July 31

Are you gonna still sneak in Carmichael to play ball ?I do that all the time when I go up thereIf they say anything, I mean mug like Kenyon Martin
5/12/2009 3:29:26 PM
I don't know about that, but I know that I definitely need a gym to play pickup games after work hours... the YMCA has it, I guess but I'd rather join a legit full gym...
5/12/2009 3:30:44 PM
see you soon dude
5/12/2009 3:31:52 PM
I feel for you... I'm quitting my job that has decent pay (well crap pay, but the benefits are good & the job is very secure) now that I've all but paid off my undergrad loans, and going to grad school at State in the fall & taking out loads of loans again.Congrats on having the balls to do the right thing for yourself in the long run even if it is risky... it's not easy to do so in this economy.

how little are you making now if you miss 51K ?
5/12/2009 4:16:08 PM
Yeah, I spent 51K on lunch today. Then vomited it on a homeless person because I'm bulimic and didn't want it to go to waste.
5/12/2009 4:22:44 PM
SO TUFFIf I make 14K this year I'll be fucking lucky.
5/12/2009 8:52:30 PM
i plan on keeping my current job (or eventually switching to another Agency) and retire at 62.
5/12/2009 9:01:09 PM
^^^ Good followup post thar.
5/12/2009 9:10:30 PM
hell i'd love 51k
5/12/2009 9:57:58 PM
what made you decide to move back? didn't you, at one time, have no plans of moving back to raleigh?
5/12/2009 10:01:18 PM
As a Bay Area resident I thank you for taking up less air/space for me and the rest of the people who love this place more than you do

I extended a few weeks. Second to last day of work now. No big projects and lots of time on my hand the last week or so.But I am officially staying on hourly in at my CA rate working from home in NC doing some odds and ends. Gonna try and do ~ 20 hours a week like I said so I have time to job search/network/interview...^^ actually, on the contrary, I loved this area. But I'm a born and raised east coast person. I couldn't envision myself spending the rest of my life on the west coast no matter how much I like it... it's weird.[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 12:48 PM. Reason : x]

Very ballsy to give up a set job in this economy...even if you still will be making enough money to get by comfortably. But don't you also have a significant other living in Raleigh or NC?? That could have been added tot he original post for it to make a little more sense.
8/6/2009 12:50:01 PM
Back in a week, can't wait to see ya![Edited on August 6, 2009 at 12:53 PM. Reason : oh boy, the timing of my post was not good]

yeah, 51k won't let you live like a baller, but it's pretty comfortable in Raleigh if you're single with no kids (and no ridiculous debt payments like med school or something).
8/6/2009 1:50:42 PM
being single with no kids in raleigh, 51k would be a ton of money.but thats beside the point, the real question here is when are we playing hockey??
8/6/2009 1:55:37 PM
Judging by this Labor Department map from June, Raleigh is faring better than Charlotte on the unemployment rate.http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/metro.pdf
8/6/2009 1:55:45 PM
8/6/2009 8:28:52 PM
at $51K i could be a BIG BALLER....holy shit
8/6/2009 8:30:45 PM
yeah that's what everyone saysuntil you start making $51k
8/6/2009 8:34:13 PM
i can pay all my bills and save on substantially less than that...i once made that much or more and i was a baller...i could be again [Edited on August 6, 2009 at 8:38 PM. Reason : i can teach you how to be a baller on a budget]
8/6/2009 8:35:58 PM
i don't make exorbitantmoney, but more than enough to get by. even though i have the scratch, i don't have the initiative to be baller. i'm also still painfully single. i willing to bet there is some correlation there.
8/6/2009 8:46:14 PM
8/6/2009 8:47:50 PM
^^hold on a minutelet me look at your photo gallery and we may be able to be painlessly not single together ^luckily i only have a mortgage and one loan to pay off a month...the rest is just bills...and I CAN DO IT![Edited on August 6, 2009 at 8:48 PM. Reason : lsjlkqw]
8/6/2009 8:47:51 PM
51k with 300-400 month in rent with roomates is a lot of disposable income. 51k paying for a house is only a little disposable income.
8/6/2009 8:48:24 PM
but my mortgage is less than $600....yay for that 20% down payment!

8/6/2009 8:51:44 PM
^^^^ right, i didn't mean i could go buy a house and it'd be awesome.i meant i'd live where i do now, and more than double my monthly income. it'd be awesome.
8/6/2009 8:54:34 PM
what about the guitars?
8/6/2009 8:55:26 PM
