at 930 i noticed a text message from 7:30 -- reads as follows:

""Piedmont Advantage CU Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 336-499-6027 to REACTIVATE your CARD"

backstory -- for the past week or 2, i've gotten a few calls for some dude (who had this number before me) from banks, creditors, etc. i return the calls to let them know a) he's not got this number anymore, and b) stop calling.

well, at 9:45 i called 336-499-6027 back to tell them the same thing....

call it and check it out, the FTC took it down in under 2 hours! call 336-499-6027 and listen to the message

for those too lazy/uncaring/etc to call, its a recording from the ftc about this number being involved in a "phishing" scam

2 hours!

i got a phishing text message saying my bank card was locked, and to call a number.

its not my bank, but lately i have been getting calls for the guy who had this phone number 6 months ago before i got it

i call these places back to tell them to leave me alone

when i called that one back, the ftc had taken it over and had a great recording on it

does that make better sense?

if you really care you can call the number, i was just really impressed that they shut the scammers down, and had their number redirected almost instantly.

i didnt realize they did such non-stop looking out for us
