Just throw some cucumbers into the brine. It'll work. Or, if you like pickled eggs, just hard boil some eggs, remove the shell and throw the peeled eggs into the brine. Yum!

you definitely need to boil the cukes in teh brine and/or leave the jar in the fridge permanently
