8 weeks versus 21 weeks. he always eats laying down. lazy ass. I think that's the only toy to have SURVIVED this long. "Cow" is missing some of its face, though...

what are you gonna do if it doesn't stop growing?
7/1/2009 10:18:23 PM
I thought this was about your baby and was hoping for baby pics.I thought you nicknamed the child OZ, hah
7/1/2009 10:18:29 PM
isn't it bad for dogs to eat laying down? or is it standing up? somethin about their stomachs gettin air in them? maybe...
7/1/2009 10:18:45 PM
leaning down over a dish (while standing) while gobbling food is bad because they can swallow air and develop bloat. that's why a lot of bigger dogs eat out of raised bowls.oz eats with his bowl at face level and "dines" for 30+ minutes. the boy is in no rush, apparently.if he doesn't stop growing, we'll have to get a barn. there's a lot of comforter rotation/cleaning in this house. most of the cats and both dogs are guilty of shedding, but oz is the only drool contributor. he's also eaten the corners off two comforters.
10/19/2009 7:17:24 PM
You're gonna have a big boy. The female Rott we had growing up was just over 80 pounds. They're such sweet dogs. And after my experience with a puppy, I've decided that all dogs pretty much suck until they're at least a couple of years old.
10/19/2009 7:21:15 PM
rottweilers are right up there with german shepherds on my "kill forever" list bet he's fun to hug though
10/19/2009 7:57:46 PM
excellent for hugging, when he's calm enough not to accidentally whack you in the face with his block head...[Edited on October 28, 2009 at 7:45 PM. Reason : ]

11/28/2009 3:11:44 PM
is your rotty CHD free ? a lot of rotties suffer from that. I've had two and one of them had it.
11/28/2009 3:27:21 PM
as far as we know, he's got good hips. won't know for sure till he's older, but we had him palpated/rotated back when he was neutered and the vet seemed unconcerned. he does appear to be going through panosteitis (long bone inflammation; growing pains) at the moment, but that's not too uncommon for large breeds. we've got rimadyl to give as needed, and hopefully it won't rotate through all his legs (right now the front left is the problem). either way, it doesn't keep him from playing and making a fool of himself. it just makes him stiff and whiny occasionally.
