i once went to a barbecue place in asheville and asked them to just give me plain pulled pork and a bottle of vinegar. the waitress said no, so i anyways, i just got back from ruckus and beat up everyone who was in there because when i asked who Alias was no one spoke up...thats just how it is

My favorite by far is eastern style, but western style is ok. that mustard shit from sc is horrible though. I stopped at a place in Columbia one time that was supposed to be famous for it, but it tasted like they just poured texas pete honey mustard on some pork.

People in Florida do not understand the joy of a pig pickin'. BTW, Rob, you have GOT to try slow n low in cocoa beach. No pork and it's far from NC BBQ, but their corn bread and smoked turkey are friggin awesome.

they actually opened a place down here that actually has decent pork

there carolina sauces are mustard based(sc i guess) and sweet vinegar (western right), which isnt my wheelhouse, but at least they have good pork. first place that served something "carolina style" with a little bit of honesty.

so when you say western im assuming you mean from like texas tn and the midwest and eastern is like nc sc ga? I could be mistaking but I've never seen barbecue in the "west". if tn is western its ok i guess but I haven't had anything as good as coopas in raleigh. Theres a place in memphis that has the best sauce ever and people here claim its the best in the country but the meat just isn't good at all and needs the sauce to be edible.
