1 year reviews are standard industry practice, and often required by company policy. most companies only give annual raises. they're scheduled events that managers have to do as part of their own job duties.

No, it isn't. It just came unannounced. Like the day before. I hadn't been expecting it.

The last company I worked for was much, much bigger, and they got away with never giving performance reviews unless it was right before they escorted you to the door. Also, raises were never given. They SUCKED.

I just hit my 1 year mark a month ago...and then survived a round of lay offs...and reduced hours/pay cut this summer. I also managed to delay my review for about 3 months.
