Yeah, I'm not really making light of it. Fuckin' Nazis

One of my friends married a German chick and one of her great-uncles, who was at the wedding, was a Panzer Lieutenant in 1939. He had mixed feelings about it.

bop

My Opa has some crazy stories about being in the hitler youth, and was held POW by the americans It's interesting because he'll drink and then openly talk about the war, while my Oma, who is slightly younger than him, absolutely refuses to. She was jewish and lost everybody except for her mother and sister

The chemistry teacher where I went to high school was in the Hitler Youth. He didn't mind talking about it and said that it was just like the boy scouts.

yeah, they really didn't have a choice as I understand it. My German teacher at Martin Middle was born in Bremen in 1944 so we gave her shit about that.

She hated us.

I got fired the day after an obnoxious German customer and I got into an argument. I called him Adolf and suggested some unpleasant things about his involvement in WWII (he was about the right age).

The incident had nothing to do with me being fired, though. I hadn't been wearing my nametag.

Whoa whoa whoa. What was her name?

I may have gotten in trouble for calling her a nazi once.

I don't think my boss ever heard about it. The guy went to complain to a lady at the front desk who had my back. She thought he was being a dick, too, and promised to tell the manage...which she never did.

Besides, it really wouldn't have mattered anyway. When the new management came in they wanted pretty much all of the old employees gone so they could bring in new people. They instituted a bunch of policies to try to drive us out or give them an excuse to fire us if we didn't leave on our own (including the "you have to wear a nametag now" without ever telling us that there were nametags now. Hand to God, nobody else had heard of the nametag policy until I was fired for it).

Several of my coworkers left as a result. I figured, "Well, shit, might as well milk this cash cow for as long as possible," so I just ignored the policies until they gave up and terminated me.

They may well have been. Like I said, the first time I heard of them was when they fired me for not wearing them.

That reminds me, I did give the informal palm-forward nazi salute to my boss when she did it. She did not appear to catch the reference.

Yeah, that one was bullshit.

I'm really, really bored. Sorry.

This is also the only thread I feel I can safely post in in this lounge without showing everyone else a penis or something. Which of course guarantees that now there will be a penis itt.

And thank you for not taking the first opportunity to fill this thread with pornography.

This thread does remind me of family guy, with stewie and brian taking the tour in German

"Hey, this pamphlet doesn't have anything covering the years 1939-1945."
"WE WERE ON VACATION!"
"What? No, there was that whole thing with Poland..."
"THEY INVITED US!"

^^ I think that's the same one. In sixth grade I signed up for her class then realized during the first week that she was a huge bitch so I transferred to french class. When my friend in german asked me why I said because she was clearly a nazi.

My brainiac friend had the brilliant idea to tell her that I said that and she requested that I come have a talk with her. I spent the next three years of middle school hiding from her like I was Anne Frank.

93-96 I guess. Graduated high school in 2000.

The sad irony is that I've spent the past 2 years teaching myself german with Rosetta Stone.

Ok, I was a couple of years ahead of you. I can't remember enough of my teachers to ask if you had any of them:

Mrs. Rhodes for 8th grade English and Frau Reid are the only two I can remember. Oh, shit, I had Mrs. Shannon for 7th grade Social Studies (had to learn the lyrics to We Didn't Start The Fire)

Mrs Rhodes was awful. She once gave me a 0 on a paper because it was written in pencil and not pen.

All I can remember is Mr. Hale for 6th grade social studies and Mrs Weinstein for english at some point. There was also some super country lady who taught wood shop and small engines when I took it every quarter.

That sounds like her. I think I had Mrs. McGinnes (sp?) for 7th grade Science. I wish I could remember my 6th grade science teacher, she was pretty cool.

When I was in 7th grade, Mr Hale caught one of his students sleeping in class so he let the class out 5 minutes early, cut all the lights off, and turned the clock forward a couple of hours.

i had most of those teachers at Martin. Mr. Hale had a great ghost story class. said he was chased by some phantom train down some tracks that were about to be torn down back in the day.

I remember him dumping alcohol on his desk and then lighting the whole thing up like we were at the goddamn Kanki.

I wonder if he's still around.

Yeah, he'd turn the gas on for 5 minutes while giving a safety lecture then say,

"D-d-d-don't leave the gas on man." as he lit a match and threw it torwards the outlet.

I remember hearing that his room caught on fire around the time I graduated HS.

Damn. My google skills can't turn up anything on Mr. Keck.

However, I did find out that ratemyteachers.com now covers middle school. I'm really tempted to sign up and put up a bunch of reviews along the lines of "WAS A RAGING CUNT CIRCA 1993. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND."

Ran into an old friend at the gym today who happens to teach at Broughton.

Apparently Mr. Keck passed away four or five years ago at the age of 81.

Mrs. Summers passed away as well. She taught the class on the 60s and was always sneaking across the street to smoke.
