in all seriousness, i met this guy.

he's a friend of a friend and he walked into a house party, like, 5 of my friends in unison say "oh shit it's coolness"

turns out he's actually a pretty cool dude, and this picture was taken on a day that he was actually spoofing people who do that.

or that's what the story was

this thread is relevant to my interests. it has recently been brought to my attention that i seriously lack style. i think its just part of getting old.

seriously, where's a good place for guys to go clothes shopping? the only time i buy clothes is slacks and button down shirts for work from target, usually once per year.

first off, dont say outfits.

dude's clothing is very interchangeable, and that's great.. can use the same things in different ways.

getchoo some jeans from lucky or seven, solid buttonups from banana, stripped button ups from j.crew, gingham button ups from polo... for the winter j.crew makes nice sweaters that hold up well for a reasonable price (the merino blends are cost effective... not as pricey as the cashmere, but i like them much better than just the standard cotton).. solid button up + v neck = good.

however, if you're going to go with button ups only or with sweaters, shoes are important.

this, i dont have good advice for, it's just all about how they look. however, i'm still stuck on some old ass diesels (but their stuff fromt he last few years sucks) and some borns.

dont skimp on socks.

that's really all you need

[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 9:03 PM. Reason : also im terribly anal about 2nd button level on my button ups.]

also, keep the button up very casual if wearing with jeans... flat roll the sleeves, keep untucked.

[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 9:04 PM. Reason : basically im telling you what i do. ahahah]

Agreed a/b the lucky or seven jeans. Or true religions. Those are all great and can take you from bumming around to late night to work (if you get to wear jeans every day, like me.)

i don't know why, but i busted out laughing at this.

i actually have some luckys that i bought about 5 years ago that are pretty much thread bare now. they have become my work on the truck/paint the house jeans. my "good jeans" are some wranglers i got for christmas a couple years ago. ha ha ha

i like to say i'm too cool to be cool, but that hasn't exacly worked out.

TR jeans can be too flashy ... It really depends on the setting. I love them in south beach. But they're too much for Orlando. Lucky is much more appropriate.

Def check out Banana Republic and J Crew. Banana Repub has some of the sexiest feeling men's sweaters. I would rub on my bf all day when he wore his part-cashmere BR sweaters. Mmmm so hot.

see, here's where i get weird

i'll wear br sweater vests ( ) but i wont wear their regular sweaters.. (yeah fuck you i wear sweater vests)

every one i've had (cashmere included and properly cared for) has stretched out to the point that it was only usable for one season.

if i'm going to spend that kind of cash on a sweater, i want it to last 2 years.

solid colored sweaters dont really go out of style.

there is no need to pay over $100 (and especially $200) for a pair of well constructed and fitting jeans.

Pilgrimshoes is turning me on talking a/b his clothes. Which is weird b/c I think we may be twins separated at birth.

Sweater vests are hot. More argyle, por favor.
