the gf and i would like to do so some backpack camping sometime between now and when it gets chilly...i've got a pretty decent amount of experience, but it's been years since i've done any serious backpacking and she's never done it...i think something fairly local (so we could duck out of work early on a friday) with a fairly short trek to the campsites (thinking <3 miles) would be idealit doesn't have to be north carolina, but i'd like for it to be some place with some decent scenery (which might be pushing it with only 2-3 hours distance from raleigh)suggestions?

Raven Rock State park in Harnett County. - Never been there but it's close and near a river. Also, it's easy to get there. Take US 1 south, take the Sanford bypass to 42, take cox mill rd to 421 and then head down 421 to the park. Easy Peasy.I also like hanging rock but it's about 3 hours away or more.[Edited on September 11, 2009 at 2:17 PM. Reason : -]
