not being a big Beatles fan I had never heard it before until some weird fucker did it at Karaoke a few years back... I was like, what the fuck is this wacky song?

It still doesn't rival the wackiness of "Johnny Carson" by the Beach Boys.

Quote :
"George Harrison described it in 1969 as "one of those instant whistle-along tunes which some people hate, and other people really like. It's a fun song, but it's kind of a drag because Maxwell keeps on destroying everyone like his girlfriend then the school teacher, and then, finally, the judge." In 1977, Harrison would be less charitable, stating "I mean, my God, 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' was so fruity.""

This is why George is #1 in my heart

i think its fun as a song, but as a part of the album, it sticks out like a sore thumb

Ruins the flow? It's the third song on an album with seventeen.

I think what we're trying to say is it sucks

and there is no justification that it does anything otherwise

2nd side of Abbey Road is way too overrated btw

I mean WAY too overrated

just because it was their last album doesn't make it some kind of work of genius

^^ I'm saying it's too early on the record to disturb the flow. If it were tenth, I'd agree.

Also, this record rules:

Booker T. & the MG's - McLemore Avenue

I'd agree with that. If "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Octopus's Garden" were gone, I don't think anyone would miss them, but I'm not upset that they're there, either.

BTW, the Abbey Road medley is total genius. If you don't think so, you're just wrong.
