They died in an avalanche(crushing injuries). Those that didn't die were stuck with little clothes or they removed their clothes due to their blood vessels no longer being able to constrict to conserve heat(the blood then rushes to the extremities and you feel hot as hell). The skin color was due to hypothermia/sunburn. The missing tongue was due to wild animals.

The radiation is bullshit and appears in no contemporary accounts.

There is no Santa Claus.
