I am pretty sure I am just out of luck in this situation -- however I figured I'd run it by everyone here to see if there are any options available.

I recently ordered all of the components to custom build my new PC -- I purchased everything through newegg.com due to past great experiences with their company.

I spoke with a Newegg.com customer service rep before my purchase to make sure everything would arrive by Friday -- they assured me that all I would need is 3 day shipping.

So I am checking the tracking numbers for everything today (4 tracking numbers, coming from CA, NJ, and TN) and the packages from NJ and TN are showing tomorrow as the delivery date. The 2x tracking numbers from CA show they will not arrive until Monday, even though the packages made it to SC early this morning. I called the UPS 1-800# to inquire about having those two packages held at the depot when they arrive tomorrow so that I could just pick them up after work instead of waiting for them to be put on a truck/delivered on Monday.

The person I spoke with at UPS confirmed the packages would be in NC tomorrow, although it most likely wouldn't be until the afternoon so there is no chance for it to make it on a truck for delivery until Monday. The problem however is that they will not let me pick up the package at the depot until they have made at least 1 delivery attempt.

In the past I have been able to have packages like this held without any problem.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this? Was the rep I spoke to just misinformed, or has the policy changed? Feels pretty lame knowing the packages will be about 5 miles from my house tomorrow afternoon but I won't be able to get them until Monday.

Any advice is appreciated -- worst case scenario I'll just wait til Monday, but would definitely prefer to pickup the packages tomorrow -- if there is anything I can do please let me know.

Thanks

fuck the 1-800 #, just goto the depot. it's ~$10/hr workers, they won't care.

if they already have it loaded on the truck when you get there, then you'll be fucked

I've heard the same shit from them before. Ironically, I think it was from NewEgg, too, which has nothing to do with UPS policy. I think Fedex is better about the whole "hold for pickup" thing. Good luck.

Which is exactly why I called today when I realized it will be a problem, instead of waiting for it to show up at the depot. Randomly showing up there after I get out of work is by all means my last ditch attempt before the weekend.

Perhaps

I will definitely give them a call once they receive the package at their location -- in the past when I've called the depot they always sent me to the 1800# "Unless the package has already been received"
