What's your opinion?I think they're usually boring as hell if white people are the ones having the wedding.

I don't drink son, so they're all dry to me.
9/30/2009 8:08:46 PM
I used to think they were the norm.

time for this thread again already?

i've only been to 3 weddings that didn't have dry receptions

My inlaws are such stuck up dickwads. We payed for an open bar and they didn't even drink. My side of the family was dancing and cheering and doing the train and stuff, and her side were all sitting at the tables in their suits not even talking much like they were at a funeral.

9/30/2009 8:25:55 PM
They won't show up here. They're too busy being dour in suits in an exposition hall somewhere, having fun

We didn't by alcohol for our guests, because we just couldn't afford that. But... people have a tendency of bringing their own supply, so that's what they did. Those that wanted to drink could, but they paid for it out of their own pockets. And those that didn't were fine.

Dry wedding receptions are so lame. I mean, I CAN have fun without alcohol, but that doesn't mean I WANT to! I honestly probably wouldn't even attend a wedding reception with no alcohol if I wasn't VERY close to the person.I got so blitzed at my sister's wedding it wasn't even funny. Woke up in some random ass hotel. But luckily I'm not the type to make an ass out of myself when drunk.

i have a great time out, and i drink like 2 times a year maybe
^^^Yeah, I know some folks who tailgate weddings. AHA[Edited on September 30, 2009 at 8:29 PM. Reason : ]

I've only been to two weddings, and both of them had open bars. The first one had a role in my almost being arrested in Madison, Wisconsin. For a while, the second wedding was threatening a dry reception. It was an issue of the religious parents of the couple battling with the couple's college friends. Their college friends somehow won.

We decided to sneak alcohol into a dry wedding once. So we bought airplane bottles of rum and bourbon. All they had to drink at the reception was sweet tea and water. I contemplated taking shots behind the building but decided it wasn't worth it and just left early.

if I'm going to sit through another boring ass wedding and hear 1 Corinthians one more time...there better be alcohol at the reception

I agree with most here, dry weddings aren't as fun, even if you don't drink. The best wedding I've been to was wet and saw everyone dancing till midnight, including the grandparents all the way to the kids, even dancing to rap and hip hop...

I have a dry wedding next weekend, big Southern BaptistsTrying to figure out if I should pack one fifth or two
9/30/2009 9:24:03 PM
i'd go with two
9/30/2009 9:24:43 PM
two.

My mom's side of the family is completely teetotalers except one aunt/uncle and their kids, so there's never any alcohol at those weddings.

I just was a groomsman in my white friend's dry wedding. We came prepared with a handle and 36 beers in the truck. This turned out to be almost as good as an open bar if not better. All the attractive young females came to the truck to get liquoured up and then gave me their numbers for later meetings. The actual reception was pretty boring though, shit ended at 9pm. Though it did free up the night for better things

^I've known plenty of upstate NY Catholics who enjoyed partying. I'm a Catholic from Iowa, so any wedding that doesn't involve a barn party the day before the wedding with alcohol, followed by a wedding reception with alcohol, is not normal.
9/30/2009 9:35:32 PM
^^ haha that's probably it. My family is Irish Catholic
