NC State students can apparently get any foot long sub for $5 at the Subway on Lake Wheeler near the Farmer's Market. Rejoice!
10/1/2009 12:20:52 PM
I thought they were 5 for all of 'em
10/1/2009 12:21:18 PM
$5 Footlong is an everyday Subway value.
10/1/2009 12:21:47 PM
^
10/1/2009 12:22:26 PM
There are only like 6 subs on their every day $5 menu. I'm talking about ANY SUB.
10/1/2009 12:22:56 PM

10/1/2009 12:27:48 PM
Gas up the jet for you tonight and baby you can go wherever you like...
10/1/2009 2:37:38 PM
the subway by my house is $5 for ANY footlongI went to the Subway on Tate St. in Greensboro and they had chicken salad!
10/1/2009 2:40:21 PM
I'd much rather have a harris teeter wheat wrap + chips and tea for $4.17 though.
10/1/2009 2:40:28 PM
Subway now has a Buffalo Chicken footlong for $5. It sort of tastes like Buffalo Chicken normally does, but not as bad for you...
10/1/2009 2:42:36 PM
how much could subway possibly be making on a $5 footlongi'd say $1 at most.doesnt seem like a good business plan
10/1/2009 3:31:22 PM
At the Subway next to Wolfmart I'm 4 for 5 on getting a free cookie from the sticker on my cup.
10/1/2009 3:32:26 PM
^^ That's why they have those commercials now that don't advertise the sandwich, but "how can you have a meal without chips and a drink?"
10/1/2009 3:35:33 PM
still add drink & chips, maybe your profit is $2-$3if you average 10 customers per 30 minutes, 20/hr, 160/day160*$3 = $480minus worker salaries ~8/hr, 64/day * 2 = $128grand total profit = $352/day, $1408/monththat doesnt include rent, utilities, i think they lose money
10/1/2009 3:47:37 PM
you are fucking retarded if you think it takes $4 for subway to make a sub.
10/1/2009 3:55:01 PM
LOL
10/1/2009 3:55:22 PM
^^bread $.10, meat $0.50, cheese $0.10, toppings $.25 = ~ $2ok so they make $3, lets even say $4 plush $1 for chips/drink so $5so profit would be $800/day, ~$2800 per monthstill too low, rent is more likely $1500 or more, other expenses are at least $500franchise fee, etc, no good
10/1/2009 4:11:24 PM
Yeah definitely not anywhere near the profit margin Redbox has.You have to be trolling if you believe it costs a franchise owner .10c for every piece of cheese.[Edited on October 1, 2009 at 4:14 PM. Reason : .]

I would venture to say that the average Subway sells more that 160 meals per day. You're not taking into account call-in orders or group orders. A lot of times my office will have one person call in an order for 15 and have one person pick up all the orders. Thus, it looks like they only have one customer when, in fact, they have 15.And for a group of 15 people, 5 may order the $5 footlong, but the other 10 may spend more money on different menu items.
10/1/2009 4:15:22 PM
Except that you just completely made up those customer statistics.
Obviously. But how many people just stick to the $5 menu?
10/1/2009 4:17:21 PM
Not you. Lafta.
10/1/2009 4:18:50 PM
10/1/2009 4:19:51 PM
I'm fairly certain they make more than 20 subs an hour, especially during lunch rush.and they make way more than $800 a day in profits, or else you wouldn't see so fucking many of them[Edited on October 1, 2009 at 4:23 PM. Reason : a]
10/1/2009 4:20:18 PM
I dunno how true this is but someone with some knowledge said Subway was the #1 most successful franchise right now...WOWIE
10/1/2009 4:37:36 PM
I still love hearing immigrants say things like "You want a subway? We're going to get some subways."
10/1/2009 4:42:02 PM
I could deal with a sub right about now. Funk soul brotha check it out now.
10/1/2009 4:44:37 PM
lol@ subs costing subway 4 bucks but I too, don't understand how similar restaurants (in non university/crowded area strip malls) make money. Take jumpin johnnys in brier creek for example. Theres never more than 2 or 3 customers in there at any given time. Thats about 25 customers per day. each paying around 9 bucks. Thats about 220 of revenue. You have at least two workers at all time making 7.50 an hour. thats 150 in wages per day. thats 70 dollars profit per day or 2100 a month. rent in brier creek has gotta be more than 2100 and overhead at least 500. I guess this is why restaurants have the lowest sucess rate of any business. They go out of business so much.
10/1/2009 4:53:16 PM
It is the least expensive franchise to get into, that's for sure. But at the same time, there is no exclusivity. Hence, there is a strip mall in Greensboro that has a Subway on each end, with 2 different owners.
10/1/2009 4:53:54 PM
so there are less than 5 days in a month? or your math sucks
10/1/2009 4:56:40 PM
I worked at the Subway in Lilling-bumfuck-ton and we easily pulled in around 2-3 grand on a typical day. You would be amazed how many subs are made during the 2 hour lunch rush and dinner rush.
10/1/2009 5:06:01 PM
oops my bad, i missed a few days of the monthby my calculations at best a subway will make roughly $24,000minus rent and other stuff ~ 18,000thats still using a very unrealistic statistics
10/1/2009 7:26:54 PM
there is this place called jersey mikes that actually sells good sandwiches. you guys should check it out!student combos at the peace street location are where it's at.
10/1/2009 8:12:04 PM

The only thing better than a standard Subway is a Subway attached to a gas station.Back when I lived on that side of town the bread was always stale as fuck....but it's been a while.
8/25/2010 10:59:28 AM
