To the people that have been before:

what is the atmosphere like?
As in how "festive" does it get?
They always play it up like its a family oriented festival, which is OK, I mean Im not going to get raging drunk and start pushing little kids down or anything but I am still trying to have a good time.

^ well, you can party. no doubt about that. I think they'd be a little mad if you wandered into the family camping area at 3am trippin' your balls off, but as long as you're cool about it you can chill.

Yeah, during the day you will see families / kids, but the atmosphere loosens up greatly after dark / bedtime for the kids, and the family camping area is fairly removed from the majority of the campsites.

Just be respectful of the kids during the day, and it's all good. Don't expect to see people trying to push drugs on every corner, but people are definitely out there to have a good time. I'd suggest bringing what you want to party with, and anything you may stumble upon would be an added bonus It's a pretty laid back atmosphere without the chaos of the large festivals.
