Have you had/would you have an optional elective surgery? (lipo, breast implants, lasik)If so, what kind? If no, why? It seems everyone here in Florida has had some work done. It's bizarre. Everyone's a little plastic. Lots of fake bewbs and calf implants.I think the only thing I'd want is Lasik. It would make sports so much easier.

isn't "optional elective" repetitive and redundant?
10/6/2009 5:18:03 PM
i had a breast reduction and now i want implants.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ]

Not redundant according to the Surgery Encyclopedia: http://www.surgeryencyclopedia.com/Ce-Fi/Elective-Surgery.html

i had lap band surgery last year and don't regret it for a minute. it's all the rage among lazy fat people these days
10/6/2009 5:21:43 PM
i have breathing and speech problems which i suspect can probably be helped by some kind of elective surgery.haven't done it, but might in the future
10/6/2009 5:21:48 PM
I want laser eye surgery. eventually I'll be getting a brain implant for a cerebral bus
10/6/2009 5:21:49 PM
i would have lasiksome days i wonder what life would be like with bigger breasts...
10/6/2009 5:24:01 PM
yeah, after we're done having kids i totally wouldn't object to a breast lift and/or implants
10/6/2009 5:24:49 PM
NOTEVENGONNACOMMENT
Ooh, you know what would be cool? Having a gun for a leg like Rose McGowan in "Planet Terror."Or I'd get breast implants if they could install lasers in my boobs so I could shoot people who made me angry.
10/6/2009 5:25:10 PM
i just wish i had never done the reduction. anyone thinking about having one done talk to me first!
10/6/2009 5:25:32 PM
^i thought you were happy with it?
10/6/2009 5:25:47 PM
there are some good things about it... i can wear more bathing suits and tank tops without looking totally skanky and falling out all over the place. but if i had spent more time thinking about it i would have at least waited to have it done and hopefully found a better surgeon

will totally get laser hair removal once i can afford it...would be awesome to never have to shave my legs again.eyesight is good right now but would get lasik if they went downhill
10/6/2009 5:30:47 PM
^^ My three bffs here have fake boobs. All three tell me I should get them. Unfortunately, bigger boobs would prob interfere with my marathon time and I want to qualify for the 2010 Boston marathon.

I might have Lasik at some point. But I look GQ in glasses...so that would be the only con. And I'm not gay enough to wear glasses without needing them.
10/6/2009 5:36:19 PM
gg Ernie
10/6/2009 5:36:41 PM
^^ I know. I love the way I look in my glasses. Unfortunately, I don't have contacts yet, so when I play tennis, I really can't see the ball very well.Plus, as often as I play water sports, lasik is a much better option than glasses or contacts.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 5:38 PM. Reason : .]

^^I don't have contacts either. I also don't play sports where I really need glasses. I gave up golf a long time ago...and I don't think I'm that blind to where I couldn't see a tennis ball (I have pretty bad nearsightedness...but not that bad I guess). My only thing is that I scratch the shit out of my glasses and always lose them.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 5:40 PM. 10/6/2009 5:39:51 PM
i'm definitely interested in getting lasik in the next few years
10/6/2009 5:40:28 PM
I want to get a lap band but I'm not fat enoughsomething to shoot for, I suppose!
10/6/2009 5:41:06 PM
i wasn't fat enough either, which is why insurance wouldn't cover it and we had to pay out of pocket...and that's the reason my surgeon is in Denver he was the cheapest in the US.[Edited on October 6, 2009 at 5:42 PM. Reason : .]
10/6/2009 5:41:46 PM
reducing the size of your stomach won't fill that hole in your heart.
10/6/2009 5:42:23 PM
^yeah, but it will make it so I'm not hungry all the damn timebut I can do this without surgery, it would just be so much easier with it
10/6/2009 5:44:45 PM
I'd lipo my thighs before getting boobs. But if I got boobs, I'd def go up to DDs. Otherwise, I don't really see the point of going under the knife.
10/6/2009 5:45:52 PM
I'd like to get Lasik at some point and some microdermabrasion action.
10/6/2009 5:47:31 PM
^^^there are actually stories out there about people who EAT THROUGH their band.that shit is ridiculous.
10/6/2009 5:49:09 PM
i've donated a few inches of p33n for one of these surgeriesi'm a good citizen
10/6/2009 5:50:01 PM
you can eat around the band, i.e. eat foods that pass through easily that are not good for you.for example, ice cream, potato chips, cream-based soups, and high-calorie drinks
10/6/2009 5:50:45 PM
id have lipo in a heartbeat. maybe boobies. thats prolly it tho.
10/6/2009 5:54:16 PM
10/6/2009 5:54:52 PM
yeah, i'd probably be too scared to go under the knife unless I really thought I needed itand I have heard of a lot of people that have gotten gastric bypass/lap band that will still stretch their stomachs out so that they can eat a lot of foodI think you really need to deal with the psychological issues of why you overeat before trying to do something that drastic
10/6/2009 5:56:21 PM
10/6/2009 5:57:22 PM
10/6/2009 5:57:34 PM
hah i'm not trying to derail this thread and all, but gastric bypass is the one commonly associated with gaining the weight back and stretching the stomach back out. with the lap band it's extremely hard to stretch your stomach out, simply because there's a silicone band in place that isn't going to move - so stretching the stomach out is rather painful. you'll puke before you can eat that much. trust me
10/6/2009 5:58:50 PM
Lap band is way safer than gastric bypass. When gastric bypass goes wrong, it goes WAY wrong. I like the flexibility of the lap band procedure.
10/6/2009 6:05:26 PM
when i get pregnant, i won't have to worry about malnutrition because i can very easily have the lap band loosened so that i can eat more bypass patients have problems with malnutrition when they have babies.
10/6/2009 6:07:04 PM
Boo, breast reduction. It's like in Scrubs when The Todd said, "I'm sad now."
10/6/2009 6:13:12 PM
I had a surgery that's considered optional for most people but my doctor said "I can make it necessary" and boy am I ever glad she did [Edited on October 6, 2009 at 6:17 PM. Reason : .]

lucy, i'm going to try not to sound too creepy, but your body is amazing and you do not need implants. nevermind read where you said you didnt want themi really want lasik too but i don't qualify [Edited on October 6, 2009 at 6:19 PM. Reason : .]
