i have gotten 23 letters from lawyers about it. thats wild. and they've sent offers as low as 35 bucks to get it taken care of.if i didn't have a lawyer already... well, i'm still tempted to do this: call them all and get them in a bidding war and see if one would do it for like 5 bucks.also i think if someone could find a way to access each attorney's win-loss record in each county in the state, and compile lawyer rankings on a website, they could make a fuckload of money. too bad that info isn't exactly public record. you'd have to have someone sit in every courtroom every day for like a year to get good numbers.hmm... anyone want a job sitting in a courtroom all day? take the court calendar and for each entry i need the attorney's name and the case disposition. what is your salary requirement to do this

there are peer-review websites for lawyers already.

1. Steal jackleg's idea.2. Sit in a courtroom everyday for a year.3. Compile my findings into an easily accessible pay to play website.4. Profit, until I'm sued by Jackleg's epic lawyer for copyright enfringement.

Sometimes I don't see justification in getting a lawyer; you pay them and they make a deal in court but most of the time you still get stiffed with court cost and/or fine + lawyer fees just to plead to a reduced charge. Seems like it would be easier to just pay the court cost + fine for a speeding conviction than pay an ton of money for improper equipment.

^^plenty of (especially smaller town) well-to-do attorneys that have been practicing for years still send letters for business. the firm i work for now doesn't send letters, but the one i used to work for did. they started out in a small town, and were expanding to raleigh. there were ads in all the familiar places, but the letters helped too. the firm was far from a new or crappy law firm.[Edited on October 7, 2009 at 2:52 PM.
