Depending on the depth to which you split the tongue, it can induce a minor speech impediment or lisp. For most people it's only temporary though during an adjustment period, until they learn how to control both tips together (obviously as seen in the videos, the two ends can be moved independently, so you have to learn to consciously coordinate them).
