one time i paid for extra shipping so that i could receive a present for someone who was moving away. the package 1. came a day late and 2. the day it was delivered it was delivered to the wrong address. when i called the lady on the phone told me it wasn't their problem. everyone makes mistakes and that they wouldn't refund me for the shipping because i had to go through that with the seller, and if they saw it fit they'd reimburse him. luckily i saw the last name of the person who signed for it. tracked them down by process of elimination and went over there to pick it up. but ever since then i've raised a jihad against them.

they did the same thing to me once. UPS actually randomly picked an address my husband lived at 3 years ago to deliver the package. he was out of town and i had to get him to fax something he signed saying i could take his package from the apt complex. i tried working it out with UPS first and they didnt give a fuck.

there was someting wrong with the address. the sender spelled the name of the street wrong. it has a British English spelling and they left the u out of harbour. although he's had dozens of packages sent to this address, they picked one he hadn't lived at for 3 years.

FEDEX is WAYYYYYYYYy worse, UPS has hardly ever screwed me over.**WARNING WORDS**just last week I ordered a golf club on a Friday with two day shipping...it shipped on friday which meant it wouldn't get there till Tuesday morning(2 day shipping they dont count/work weekends?) anyways...the package gets delivered late on Tuesday...I call my house to see if its there, ppl say it isnt there. I call fedex and they delivered to 505 King Dr not 585 King Rdnot only did they get the number wrong but the Street as well. I call them and say I will go pick it up at the house they mis-delivered. Instead THEY pick it up and the driver proceeds to tell me that though I am less than a block away it will be 3 hours before she can meet me. I say deliver it at the end of the day or refund my money. They dont deliver it till Thursday at 5 pm.I will never use fedex again.

I'm a competent individual who can enter my address and i don't live in the bronxso i've never had any of my goods stolen.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

i have also had UPS deliver after 7pm. they're supposed to have items get there by 7. i waited until 8pm one day and when i got back to the house 15 minutes later there was a note saying they tried to deliver and i wasn't there so i would have to wait until the next attempt.i imagine neither fed ex or ups really give a shit, since so many businesses will use them no matter what, but i've never had an issue with fed ex and ups has given me issues every time except for the last 2.

lol i remember my buddy who worked at UPS during college. apparently it was common for overnight stuff going from southern California to northern California to get fucked up and end up in NC. obviously that stuff was late not to mention them playing games like "fragile = projectile"

FedEx's system of having the customer hand write the shipping information on an airbill and then having the employee key it in is a huge waste of time that leads to tons of errors. I've had packages mis-delivered on several occasions due to errors on their part and it's such a pain standing there for several minutes while they hen peck at the keyboard to enter the info that you wasted your time filling out in the first place. They should seriously look into replacing employees with a kiosk that allows you to input the data and print the shipping label yourself. That way if incorrect information is entered there is nobody to blame but yourself.

I used to rail on and on about FedEx and UPS, until my former company started having things sent to us via DHL. Man oh man DHL made them look like Omnipotent & Benevolent Gods of Package Delivery.
6/11/2010 1:47:46 PM
DHL is the only one I would never do business with again. It should have been a sign when they fucked up my first shipment with them and tacked on two of someone else's shipments onto my first bill. Fuck DHL to hell. You'd think it would be really easy to get two packages removed from your bill when they don't have your account number or signature written on the airbill, but you'd be surprised! What a terrible company.[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 1:56 PM. Reason : l]

Yeah I wanted to just run around screaming FUCK YEAH when they ceased US operations.
6/11/2010 1:55:51 PM
i jut have stuff sent to me at work so there is someone to sign for it, although now the apartment complex i'm in has someone up front to sign for everything

I hate UPS as well. My biggest gripe lately is that they are not honoring the signature requirement waiver. They have made it an option so that the shipper can disallow the waiver from working (in other words, I tell UPS that no signature is required when they deliver, but the shipper decides thats not good enough, and they veto that). Its a real bitch if you have a job and sorts, and arent there when they deliver. Huge pain in the ass. And its happening on stupid ass things now. I got a USED BLOWER for the A/C in my car that costs $65. Waiver was overwritten. Took me 3 extra days to get the damned thing.FUCK YOU UPS.

^^that's why you just have everything delivered to your workit always gets signed for that way that's what i do, at least
6/11/2010 3:22:43 PM
Yeah, I had to have some ish rush delivered to me once, and they used UPSUPS delivered it to the wrong house. When I called about it, all they could tell me was "my driver says he delivered it to your house, and put it on your doorstep. I mentioned that "I've been home all day waiting on this delivery, and no one has come to my house".I had to do some detective work, and realized that they delivered it to a house 3 doors down from me, and placed the package between the screen door and the normal door (out of view).Fucking idiots. I'm glad I got my package, because it was very time sensitive.[Edited on June 11, 2010 at 3:35 PM. Reason : aaa]

They stay in good shape financially mainly from medium to large businesses or government locations. Many businesses don't really care about shipping costs if their profit margins are good enough or the customer needs it that badly and the customer gets billed for it. In Charlotte we'd send overnight early AM shipments with UPS mostly ranging in the $500-700 range for just a couple heavy boxes for a customer out near the sticks outside Wilmington when our express courier services are booked up. That shipping cost to a power plant or biopharm location is nothing compared to waiting an extra 4 hours and possibly days of downtime losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in production for a $200 part. That usually speaks poorly for the customer's logistical or inventory planning dept but shit happens and they're willing to eat that cost without blinking an eye so long as it gets there and gets them back up. We've had UPS fuck up once or twice doing that but it's an extremely low percentage overall, most of the time it's been UPS ground shipments. They monitor Next Day Air or Early AM deliveries a lot more closely due to the nature of the expedited shipment. Same goes for Fedex. USPS we don't even look at as an option.

I had a blu-ray player sent in that was under warranty w/ Samsung. Once returned I found that UPS has smashed the whole front corner of the player. UPS had to get me a new one and Samsung upgraded me to the 2010 version. I'm not sure if I hate UPS or if I should thank them.
