During a random convo I was having with a friend's mom today, she was telling me about his little brother and his issue with brain trauma and consequent compulsive behavior. I'm sitting here listening to her and alarm bells are going off left and right.

Mom...Dad...just how far DID y'all drop me on my head when I was a child?

your compulsive shitting is caused by your diet, not head trauma.

Damn...twoozles...so I had to read up on that a bit. Impulsive behavior stemming from overboard emotional reaction seems much more like hitting the nail on the head for me.

yes.
I count constantly.

ONE Two THREE Four FIVE
SIX Seven Eight Nine
TEN Eleven Twelve
THIRTEEN Fourteen
FIFTEEN

and now the reverse.
FIFTEEN Fourteen THIRTEEN Twelve ELEVEN
TEN Nine EIGHT Seven
SIX Five FOUR
THREE Two
ONE

And that's just the start of it.

My attache case in Resident Evil 4 was always immaculate. Every time I picked up something it had to go in the correct area: Ammo, health, grenades.

That's a smart idea. I've never thought to do that before.

When I set an alarm, it has to *feel* like the right time, based on the minutes. Normally this fluctuates, but it can never be a multiple of five. Ever. That's just wrong.

i check my alarm a minimum of 3 times before i go to bed (the number of times is dependent on how many feel right)

i also set 3 different alarms (one on a different device) around five minutes apart from each other

whenever i go out to eat, i have an unshakable desire to clean up the table before we leave

when pumping gas, the total price HAS to end on a multiple of 5. i've even given strangers free gas to make this happen

if i download music, i have to download the entire album. i either get the actual CD or download a FLAC+CUE that was perfectly ripped - no MP3 whatsoever.

my music has to remain immaculately tagged at all times

if at all possible, things must be symmetrical... or at least perpendicular.

...wow, i'm a fucking freak.

i guess all of those aren't really compulsions, per se, but idiosyncrasies.

^ thats not obsessive, evan. that's just, like you say, idiosyncratic behavior. it's certainly nothing to worry about.

true Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chemical imbalance and is not (normally) due to brain trauma.

some antidepressants have been shown in clinical trials to reduce symptoms of OCD.

ZXAPPEAL, you should consult with your physician or a psychiatrist. you have issues.

this thread wasn't about OCD just compulsive behavior, which is

that's the definition for compulsion.

i bite my lip constantly because i persistently have the irresistible impulse to do so. I'm not OCD, I, like most people, just have compulsions to deal with. The reason why it sounds like a symptom is the same reason that

doesn't. because vector isn't in OCD

FIVE, SON. FIVE.

I feel weird getting out of bed if the last number on the clock isn't a 0 or 5.

And the most OCD thing I do is while driving, I pay waaaaaay too much attention to the dashes on the road, or perhaps driveways on the sides, clicking my teeth as they reach me.
OH GOD I'M A FREAK.

there's a certain amount of time i have to rock in my rocking chair before going to bed, regardless of how tired i am. i'm not really sure what that amount is, i just know when i'm done.

i would like to say no...

but then i think about cleaning

i have to do it in the exact same order, in the exact same manner every single time...

if i don't...or if someone else tries to help me...i can shake the feeling that it's all wrong...and it makes me extremely uncomfortable...sometimes to the point that i can't sleep

when i worked at the bar i would sometimes clean the entire building with the aid of someone else...then go back and reclean the entire building again...my way...after they had left

YES. my alarm setting changes daily and it ranges from 5:47 to 6:12, and its just a feeling, Ive been known to set the alarm and then later set it one minute forward or backward because it felt right.
