For the first time since 1977, Fayetteville Street actually connects from end to end. Or at least it will after Raleigh Wide Open on Saturday.

Interactive LED panels on each side of the plaza that respond to people moving past them. Should be cool at night.

They are going to be rotating pieces of art on display I think. These will be there for a year.

The light towers rotate through a bunch of different colors at night I believe.

One of the four new pavilions. This one is a kabob stand. The others are Krispy Kreme, Jimmy John's, and an art store.

Sundae on top of a donut.

There will be an ice skating rink here in the winter until Charter Square starts construction.

Interactive water fountain using motion sensors. Not quite sure how this works; I think during the day it runs on a set program, and then at night it is interactive.

I, too, am uncomfortable walking past the homeless, because they aren't humans like you or I.

I do enjoy walking past yuppies at North Hills, though.

The only thing I don't really like about the art as a whole, is that "one of these things is not like the other" and thus sticks out in a weird way.

Two of the art installs look like child's toys and the third looks like a fossil.

Why not make all three different? I guess they'll only be there a year.

I do like Raleigh's commitment to bring public art to the streets of Downtown.
