I kinda knew, but I thought it would've happened sooner in the week when the attorneys first got back from their retreat. Since it didn't, I felt like I was secure. I was wrong.

I'm a paralegal, and of course one of the things they said was attorneys are even getting laid off (like the Kilpatrick Stockton layoffs) but a paralegal position was what they decided on. I wasn't the newest hire, but I wasn't a veteran employee, and my position was more hodge podge b/c of my boss' particular practice areas so my caseload can be spread among 2-3 other paralegals to handle (they're gonna be pulling their hair out busy now).

It just sucks, and it's what making me angry today, that one case ruined the financial year, and I got the axe even though I wasn't working on it.

I feel bad the the 3L student intern working for us right now. I know he's had offers elsewhere, but he liked us so he's been working for us in the hopes they'd hire him. I seriously doubt they'll hire him now :/

that sucks yo. our 4th quarter board meeting was earlier this week, then a long closed door manager's meeting yesterday. i feel pretty secure in my position, but i'd be lying if i said i'm not feeling at least a little bit of anxiety. every quarterly this year has either resulted in lay-offs or a paycut. luckily our business started picking up last month, so my fingers are crossed.
