If there are any grad students in the class, you should pick them. In most graduate schools, you need at least a B (not B-) to get credit for a course. Just get in a group with a couple grad students and you can sit on your thumbs while they do all the work.

I've been on both sides of this. As an undergrad I once had a project team where I did literally nothing. The one graduate student spent a weekend doing the entire thing by himself, didn't even give the rest of us a chance to help. Got an A though.

As a grad student, I didn't want to trust my grade in the hands of an undergrad, so when an undergrad ended up on one of my project teams, we just didn't let him do any of the really important stuff.

First sign of trouble: group members who prefer hotmail or aol, or worse, none at all. "Yeah, I don't like email, so I never read mine."

I love group projects

and I was never ever ever the 'oh I'll just do it" guy

I'd take the zero before that happened

and I took some zeros



If one of my buddies or a hot girl is in the group then I'll put forth some effort

but if its three randoms then I'm just dead weight
