Every time you hear an argument towards violence to end a conflict or war, think of this.
11/7/2009 2:37:09 PM
oh yeah, come over here and say that!
11/7/2009 2:39:06 PM
when the talkin' is overit's time to get a gun
11/7/2009 2:39:55 PM
It sounds like nonsensebut, when you meditate on it and take the long view, both towards the past and the futureyou can see how correct it really is
11/7/2009 2:41:24 PM
if you changed 'last' to 'first' maybe
11/7/2009 2:42:28 PM
^now that makes perfect sense to me
11/7/2009 2:43:39 PM
.. and the first refuge of the winner
11/7/2009 2:45:58 PM
and who are the losers?the Germans?the Japanese?the Iraqis, Afgans, Muslim extremists?there are no winners and losers only participantshow long will we be "winners" a hundred years... a thousand, what then?
11/7/2009 2:48:59 PM

11/7/2009 3:13:53 PM
good thing your impact is so low
11/7/2009 4:47:32 PM
whining about violence and running from confrontation are the only refuge of the weak.
11/7/2009 4:50:45 PM
who said anything about whiningand running from confrontation is certainly farthest from the ideayou just don't get itread up on Gandhi's idea of passive resistanceand you'll understand how hardcore that philosophy really is

Wolves - People who have the capacity to use violence to cause harm or get what they want.Sheep - People who have no capacity to use violence at all and are critical of people who use violence for good or badSheep dogs - People who have the capacity to use violence to protect the sheep. They may be criticized by the sheep and grouped with the wolves at times. At the end of the day though, they are the ones keeping the sheep alive. I like to consider myself a sheep dog. I hate violence and hope for peace, but have no moral dilemma by dropping some guy graveyard dead who is attacking my family.
11/7/2009 6:13:11 PM
but you're really a sheep
11/7/2009 6:17:51 PM
Sure. But I'm not incompetent.
11/7/2009 6:28:56 PM
sure, why not?
11/7/2009 6:29:47 PM
well, I was gonna sarcastically remark that I guess Great Britain was incompetent to use violence to fight Hitlerbut in fact, it was precisely because of their incompetence that they were obliged to use violencethey should've stopped him without violence, long before
11/7/2009 6:32:54 PM
something tells me that logic and reason wouldn't have worked with hitler[Edited on November 7, 2009 at 6:34 PM. Reason : what law says that every internet conversation goes back to nazis?]
11/7/2009 6:33:59 PM
no, but a bunch of soldiers on his border, ready to march upon a war which he was not at all prepared to fight, would likely have done soin the early days, he could have been stopped and crushed by the mere threat of violence
11/7/2009 6:35:11 PM
although this quote is really not about passive resistanceGhandi does address World War 2 quite effectivelyit's just really radical thinking...and World War 2 is a perpetuation of the violence of and humiliation after World War 1
11/7/2009 6:35:49 PM
threatening violence is more noble than acting violently
11/7/2009 6:36:42 PM
truebut threatening violence is probably only slightly less worse than using it
11/7/2009 6:37:40 PM
so how many empty threats do you have to make before you're never taken seriously?is carrying out your threat of violence necessary at some point?
11/7/2009 6:41:28 PM
11/7/2009 6:42:27 PM
that doesn't really answer the question, broski
11/7/2009 6:44:48 PM
