I thought it was just something you were a member of if you could prove that you were a decendent of someone who faught in the confederate army. I've been asked several times to join daughters of the confederacy by members of my family, but apparently you have to write an essay and I'm just not in the mood to write an essay right now if I don't have to.

I can also join DAR if I wanted to. But again, it's the essay.
