Oh ok

In that case, no. None of my family even knows what Facebook is. And if they do, fuck it, I just live.

i really don't have to tone it down. sure i stopped dropping F bombs when my 13 year old cousins joined, but topicality has remained the same for the most part.

of course I tone mine down. Several reasons.

1. I'm friends with a bunch of family
2. I'm friends with my pastors
3. I'm friends with my campers
4. I respect the fact that people on facebook aren't as open minded about language as they are on tww.

i agree with the [what am i gonna do? turn my dad down as a friend] statement. for me it is grandparents, young cousins, parents. all who would be like wth (what the heck (swidt?)) if i didnt friend them

Your parents should be cool enough to give you personal space.

You shouldn't need to rely on the internet to SOCIAL NETWORK with your family. If you guys can't keep in touch b/c you're family you've got some serious problems.

What if you talk to them all the time anyway and just don't care if they see what's on your Facebook?

Dick.

I don't think so. Like I have cousins that live in different states that I don't really talk to much, and since facebook came up and they joined it's been nice being able to interact with them more now.

^^cousins /= parents

truth be told, just filter them if you feel like you have to "tone down" your statuses.

Well if my parents are on facebook and I'm on facebook why not be friends with them? Also, me being friends with my parents on facebook is not why I tone things down. Everything I say on facebook is something I would say to my parents.

^^^I dunno, do you make plans to hang out and go drinking with your parents Or are your parents long lost high school buddies you forgot about.

My mom's been on Facebook for 2 years or so and hasn't asked to be my "friend". I think that's pretty cool that she realizes she's my mother and not my "friend".

^^^probably. I will admit that I am friends with my Dad on FB. But that happened b/c after a trip we took somewhere it was the easiest way for him to see all the photos I took of the weekend.

(and his status is restricted as hell)

My mom uses FB to stay in touch with her friends. Weird I know.

[Edited on November 11, 2009 at 4:58 PM. Reason : if you need a FB request from your mom to know you're loved you have problems, lol.]
