11/19/2009 4:45:55 PM
isn't that a little high. should be 120/70 right?
11/19/2009 4:46:19 PM
Well, it's a little high, but it sure ain't 200/100.And changing my salt habit doesn't change a thing...[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 4:47 PM. Reason : so there.]
11/19/2009 4:46:43 PM
shit. 140/80 wasn't high back in the day... say before all these blood pressure medicines hit the market.... it's amazing how that works.
11/19/2009 4:47:41 PM
Anyway, it's not the salt that you put on your food that's the problem. It's all of the sodium in the processed foods that you eat that usually kicks up your blood pressure.
11/19/2009 4:48:06 PM
Dey is a lotsa troof to dat.I need more potassium and calcium in my diet.
11/19/2009 4:51:24 PM
yeah, salt and blood pressure is more or less bullshit. they suggest lay off of the salt because it could lead to water retention and as a result put more stress on your walls. rarely does this actually happen. if you're getting 4000mg a day, sure. if you're getting under 2500 (incredibly easy to achieve without even eating that healthy) then you don't have an issue.
11/19/2009 4:53:43 PM
Mine was 117/65 the last time I checked iirc. Never had a problem with it except when I took some medication that made it shoot through the roof.I <3 salt, but I do feel bloated if I eat too much of it. The past three mornings I've had scrambled eggs for breakfast and chicken/rice type stuff for dinner which I load up with salt. I seriously think I can feel the water retention.[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 5:00 PM. Reason : s]

PUMP UP THE3 VOLUMEPUMP UP THE VOLUME
11/19/2009 9:07:56 PM
i eat way too much sodium.like an embarassing amount.and my blood pressure is about 90/60.also, by changing your whole lifestyle usually only reduces your bp slightly.it appears to be amazingly genetic (don't get me wrong there is still a factor played in TLC {terapeutic lifestyle changes})...but its not as big as it seems people think it is.Medication management therapy FTW
11/19/2009 9:16:48 PM
my BC raises my bp a little biti dunno if that is normalthough it seems like it might be cause women with high bp aren't supposed to take bcanyway, yea...i eat tons of salt too. i'm not big on sweets. for dessert i'm debating between a pickle, cheese or popcornoh shit, just remembered i had black olivesand i ate french onion soup for dinner. SALT SALT SALT!!!!
11/19/2009 9:18:19 PM
ive been known to eat so much salt it starts to make my mouth hurt.like my tounge and the inside of my lips.one day im gonna try and limit my intake severely for like a month and see if i lose any "water weight"maybe[Edited on November 19, 2009 at 9:21 PM. Reason : ]

11/20/2009 12:10:21 PM
That's stage 1 hypertensionMine was usually in the upper 140s to lower 150s, so they put me on medication for itAnd i cut out salt almost completely
11/20/2009 12:11:36 PM
140s is not unhealthy. they say it is so drug companies can convince you to buy their drugs
11/20/2009 12:12:15 PM
I'm so glad that I'm not alone. I haven't fainted yet, but I came very close recently in the shower. It was steamy and I'd been bent over for a few minutes making sure that Silas was clean and when I stood back up I almost lost it.
11/20/2009 12:12:38 PM

salt is good for you
11/20/2009 2:14:04 PM
well, you're absolutely right if you consider that if it weren't for sodium, potassium, and calcium, we'd just collapse in a pile of quivering muscle tissue.
11/20/2009 2:45:55 PM
hmmmidk, i'm fond of NaCl/KCl mixesbut i don't really like salt anyway, so whatev..[Edited on November 20, 2009 at 2:47 PM. Reason : ^don't forget Mg!]

I thought about LiCl...if it weren't for its neurotoxicity in higher doses...I mean, I could likely use a dose of lithium anyway.
